pinch harmonics

Ahh crap, pinch harmonics come naturally to me, but how the hell does one pull it off the first few postitions of the bass strings?

Try bending a note without hitting it first, then hit it with a pinch and let it come down. Sounds like the guitar's moaning

Check out Paul Gilbert's live solos too. I think his feel is very nice when he doesnt let it rip. The whole pinch harmonic, bend and palm mute just sounds soo good. If you have trouble bending at certain positions of the fretboard, you can try bending downwards instead of upwards. I prefer this when bending with my index finger.

Nuno Bettencourt's Pinch harmonics are nice too. Of course, all the classic trash metal solos have good harmonics too. Listen to the powermetal bands, especially dragonforce, They've got like harmonized pinch harmonics.. I like
