hmm, i was thinking it would be more expensive in japan than exported models, and you confirmed it.
japanese manufacturers (incl electronic goods and cars etc) are well know for practising heavy price discrimination, i.e. expensive within japan, cheaper out of japan.
an Ibanez JEM7V 2010 is going for about $3.7k on bgw website
Recently I have been actively clearing out my stable of guitars, and here are the select few that survived the purge.
I had some time to take some photographs, just thought I would share them here.
Here's my main axe; an Edwards Jimmy Page 59' Reissue.
Here's my first project guitar. Custom stavac-steel bridge and brass trem-block were fabricated by Andi (eclizpe).
I sanded the neck down myself for that irresistible smoothness that we all know and love.
No shit man. Clicked on your signature and you really have very beautiful and tasteful photographs. Lots of emotion and expression in many of them. Really enjoyed looking at them. Gotta share some of your tips with me soon.
i have a yg1212 with hss. didn't quite like the D shape neck so i sanded it to more of a C shape for better chording and gripping. these old yamahas just kick so much ass. i wish i could find 1 of those yamaha superstrats with shorter scale. that would make me very happy.
I have to say that my preference lies with a deeper 'C' profile too, I know exactly what you mean when you say 'better chording and gripping'. The neck on the Edwards and the project guitar are deep 'C's, feels so good in my hands.
I'll leave the Yamaha alone though, for days when I just feel like having a flatter, 'faster' neck to fool around with.
James and Jon,
Thank you so much for the comments and compliments!
