How do u guys make the strings look so shiny, the finer 3 strings have turned black within days after i string in on my guitar. Any tips on how to keep my the strings look shiny?

i use Dunlop string conditioner hehe stays shiny for months, take care of ya strings then it'll shine for long :wink: if ya sweat when playing then clean it after playing, then apply again the dunlop conditioner or cld be other brands of your preference 8)

i see thanks. and how much does it cost? any requirement's before i use it on my strings like eg. remove strings from guitar, this kinda stuff?

Well, first off I'm surprised you can tell that from such low-res pictures.

Personally, I am very mindful to clean my strings with a cloth before and after playing. I give them a wipe from top to bottom, making sure I get to the underside of the strings as well as the top and sides. Easy. The main corrosive factor is actually the perspiration from your fingertips, which contains salts. On the Ibanez, those strings are coming up to two years old and they still sound great.

Eversince i was in sec 1, guns N roses, led zeppelin, Zakk wylde, u name the ppl that uses the Les Paul. may it be Classic. Custom, Standard. evrytime i saw it, i'll definitely be having a jaw dropping experience. having a Gibson Les Paul wuld be the finest dream i ever had. sumhow, i onli dare to dream. but ppl say if u follow ur dreams hard enuff, they realli do come thru. Hence, wif my very own pocket money, took me 3yrs to save. then the moment of truth......

I don't use any of those commercial string cleaners/conditioners such as Fast Fret and so on, but I've heard that these are good. The key thing, I think is to wipe your strings down. I use a cotton rag which is the back of an old T-shirt that used to say "SMILE, SATAN LOVES YOU" on the front of it.

However, the longevity of strings can also depend on environmental factors. My apartment aircon is on most of the time. I had a friend in UK whose strings turned black and rusty after about 2 weeks. He kept the guitar next to a window and the room was pretty damp. I dunno. This might be a factor for you.

Yeah - S Series Ibanez are all like that. Very light too, and the neck is thin and super fast.

yes it is my friend. its American alrite. how i wish i can be like u, to be able to look after my guitars well. the onli guitar i take real care is my Taylor. that one if anybody touch, i wuld scream like hell. my wife bought for me u knoe. hope u have seen the pics on my earlier post. so sayangggg one.

Oh yes - I saw your beautiful Taylor. In fact I almost bought one instead of the Martin (a 400 Series) but I already have a Baby Taylor, so I I'll keep that option till next time.

Well here we go again,....
Yeah my one n only guitar, saved for this baby for quite sumtime n sold two guitars to get it. A dream to play n its uncommon here in singapore. 2nd hand but its superb, (cant afford new anyways) 1997 PRS Swamp Ash Special no 247, 1st year of SAS production, hehehe

The photo below , the bass is a Michael Tobias Design, Beast4, Czech made, Real groove, n funk (slap happy) bass. I play both bass n guitar so i think i get one of each is enuff.

My amp, one the latest addition to my rig, a Rivera R30-112, great JCM 800 marshall tone, n Fender Black/Brown Face sound in one amp.

hey chimaera, your SAS is stringed wrongly i think. the PRS winged tuners aren't suppose to look like that with the strings on. did you string them properly?

Whooops i didnt notice tt, yeah when i got it its oledi stringed liddat,.. Arggh,.. i juz read the instruction manual, lucky its still there as i got it 2nd hand. The guitar juz came, n pardon me for not knowing, am totally blur w PRS tuners, humm i restring tmr. Well if i got diff on restringing ill PM repulse 87, u got ur custom some time can teach me how to restring properly...

vernplum - yeah i was a little impatient with sweelee long awaited mesa amps arriving (even the sales manager said Dec via email mind you)...so i decided to email mesa myself. asked them one of our big local stores getting dealership soon? if not then i'd like to try to order the amp from them direct. so this guy says he'll check with his own international sales manager and replies a couple of days later that i can order direct from them. says he hasn't heard of any dealership going to sg.... or maybe he's just ignorant....who knows...

Nice Rivera Chimaera! I had a chance to try one sometime back at Guitar Connection. The clean channel is one of the best around for a 30 watt tube amp. :smt001
