Partscaster/DIY guitar Appreciation Thread 2009

Hi guys,

Need help with my Partcaster.

I recently bought this MightyMite neck from a guy (local forumite) and whack it into my Squier Telecaster Custom II.

I got it setup @ Guitar Workshop and the thing is, the neck seems to be tilting backward.

Is it because the neck dun fit or because the fitting job is badly done? Please advise.

Any remedy?

bro looks like your neck is too tight... adjust the truss rod CCW ... every 1/8 turn check the relieve .... before u adjust the truss rod please loosen all your string ...

adjusting the neck is quite easy... don't worry u'll get use to it :)

(note : adjusting the neck by rotating the truss rod CW will add the tension which ur neck will tilt backward
and turning CCW will add relieve to your neck .. which ur neck will tilt/bow forward)

My custom Esquire Tele guitar done! Consists of a Fender MIM Tele body and a Squier Tele Custom II maple neck. What a tone machine from a single pickup guitar :)

hi all,

would like to start on a DIY strat...but dunno where to start..like where to buy parts and all? anyone can advise? :)

phileo17 can start reading up here and other informative diy sites,
how about working on a plan like what kind of diy direction you want,
then decide on a budget to work with, from there easier to execute & source parts..

as for me, i leave it to principle of chances, another word i get easily distracted,
started on srv journey, got carried away with e.c 'blackie' ended up eric john.. johnson..
-good luck :p

keep up the great work done here guys..
i think pics dont do justice to hmnisarthur's no.1,
it looks awesome in real life, even my eyes couldnt believe it!
he got talent.. spanners & screwdrivers are natural extension of his hands!!

this is mine.. all mine.. haha! -

here is a 1990 japan alder body, 3single coil cavity, neck is from another strat-
sunburst look better with a 1ply, 2ply, white or mint green pickguard?

fitted a wilkinson vintage bridge as i got a new spare set lying around, any better recs?
havent really got into changing outlook & appearance yet, just wood tone test & feel of neck..
also been eyeing on pao fero but somehow or rather the maple ones keep coming back..

the weight is not too light or too heavy, got good acoustic resonance,
sign of times, 'roadworn' body finish has faded to almost matte like satin..
as for the matured body wood, imho it has a fine tonal balance,

at the back of the neck even the skunk stripe seem to have faded off,
lacquer peel on some parts of the fingerboard, minor wear on upper frets,
what you guys think of the fender string trees & lsr roller nut, better?

i've always preferred vintage wares over the moderns & standards,
they're good enough for me, may go for the schaller locking set though..
last but not least, fender headstock serial number made in usa 1997
-thank you

was wondering whether anyone seen a les paul jr. With double cutaway body? Most shops here sell strat/rg bodies =(
