My reply to James (ultrasound scam thread)

I remembered working with heartrock SG doing free gigs at East Coast Mac for one whole year, but finding bands were always difficult thing to do.

ANTHONY from Heartrock SG! Always a pleasure playing for his gigs! I must say he helped me and my band to grow and gain alot of experience when performing for his shows. and MIKE was behind him all the way too! Thanks Mike! for the shows at east coast! Loved it!

Shyam,
Drop by and lets have a chat and we can work on some things out to improve this situation. With over 2 years of watching the gigs go by at Music Garage and with the birth of a new place called FAD Studios, i have a pretty good idea on whats going on with the scene these days. I have first hand experience looking at how and what happens during gigs. So give me a ring.

James,
Keep up the good work on the website and also the support you've given me over the years when im playing with Soul'D Out and Halfestride. Thanks you for soft.

Brandon!!
Looking forward to your EP or was it your full length album! Woohooo!

Big ups to Shyam Raj. Continue doing what you're doing.

What I really don't understand, why bands still play for ultrasound gigs when there's like other P2P gigs that is more suitable for you. Ask yourself, would you yourself pay 12 bucks to watch your friends play? I wouldn't. Unless great spy or plainsunset is playing as well. I mean the amount he charges is the same as stasis events or scape lab events, except with unknown and obscure bands.

So even though I detest scums like Nic who holds other ICs to get his money, I can't help feeling that ultimately, these bands are the ones who brought it upon themselves. Compare to old people who got scammed into buying magic stones or whatever, these bands actually had time to think, time to read through the document and time to think whether its the right to do. There are other P2P gigs which require you to sell tix at 5-7 bucks, which is way more reasonable, with organisers more willing to help out with promotion, posters etc.

Im sure alot of bands have came out stronger after this whole P2P experience, just take it as a painful and expensive lesson learnt.

To new and young bands out there, please please please do not be rash. Work hard, practice practice practice, and when you are getting the gigs, ask yourself, 'Hey, I wouldnt mind paying for this if someone sells it to me' and that would be a great start.
