my friend says bass is useless, how to explain?

Hmm.

that guy is a serious guitar wanker.. bass is useless? lol proves what a narrow perspective he has on the instrument and its capabilities.. just look at John Paul Jones and Jack Bruce. These guys form part of the backbone of the band known as 'the rhythm section' along with the drummer.

I hope he'll mature his point of view musically in the very near future.. because such a guy would get seriously shot down on the forums (especially by bassists) .. and he'll never know what hit him.

For the record, I love what the bass does to a musical group... indespensible and downright essential.

a drummer here..... IMO im juz amazed by how ur frd's mind work. hahhha. ask him to play funk without bass, ask him to play jazz without a bassist or a double bass player. Drummer n bassist are the core of the band, the foundation of a band. juz listen to RATM, ask ur frd to play w/o a bassist. (not to offend guiatrists)

as a drummer, i always search for the best bassist b4 other musician. one that can play heavy strong riffs n bassline.
