its cool to be playing any instrument and creating music

its not when bumping old thread and to realise half of the people who participate in the thread 2yrs ago(when this thread was started) are not really active much round here anymore

time passed, new cummers dropping by, moving on, looking back, move on

if useless, why do bands have bassists? pfft. basses are definitely underrated. but they sure are important. VERY IMPORTANT!!!!

yes yes, its important, this thread is 2 years old. Original thread starter prolly gotten over the thing and moved on with life

whatever justification we are giving here, now, after 2 years, is like jerking/grinding off to the wall with a pretty scene in mind, but absolute no reponse from the wall

You guys must be bored out of your minds to have even replied to this kind of nonsensical garbage.

It's clearly rancid twitspeak emanating from a juvenile ignoramus.

tell him his stupid fcking theory in guitar alone isn't a show of skill at all. Memorising tabs and note for note solos dont show any talent either. If he had a decent musical ear, which he CLEARLY doesnt, he d be able to see all of this.

Or just beat him up and end your friendship with that poser

People who gives such comment still don't understand music...and if he think like that probably he will not succeed in playing the guitar as well....it is all connected...your thinking in music will affected the way you play.....he is not open minded enough to try to understand the concept of bass...

I'm actually quite irritated at your friend's comment. I'm a guitarist myself and I find that the bass is one of the most important instruments in the band. We can have a band without a guitarist but not a bassist. This may be a very general statement but the bass is actually the rythm machine(together with drums) supplying the band with all the root notes.

Those who played in a band will realize that the bassist actually determines the chord of the whole band. I the bassist were to subsitude C for Am for example, the guitarist and the other musicians such as the keyboardist will tend to follow especially if they play by ear. Of cause that won't happen if the bassist is playing the bass root note that is different. For example, D/F#.

There is this saying. It's easy to be a bassist but not easy to be a good bassist. To be a good bassist, you have to play better than average bassist, doing all the other weird stuff, which is not easy.

This is from my experience. Just my 2 cents.

Cheers!

yeah, it's easy to play the bass, but not easy to do well in it.

just look at victor wooten, stanley clarke etc.
AH!! omg

maybe your friend is deaf to all frequencies below 200hz! hah

being a guitarist in a band.....bass is super freakin important in driving the whole groove and rhythm for the music. alongside the drums.

i've only recently started playing bass for another band.....and i find it much much easier to play the guitar.

i know what you can do!!..........ask your friend to read this thread..

How old is your friend???
I think he's a noob...it's a basic thing that the bass is part of any band...even the orchastra has a bass section...
I also think he is very new to music...ask him to go to youtube...look at all the bands that made it...the all have bassist...
