Music and Alcohol

Does it enhance the experience?

I have tried on numerous occations intoxicating my self and composing, only to realize the next day I just wrote a bunch of crap and produced riffs that sound like rabbits being smashed alive.

But when I club or go for gigs, I got to get tipsy to feel the music.
I still think there gotto be a connection.
Someone should research this and publish some papers.

Btw is jamming when drunk better or worse?
I say,
A few cans of $2.10 Breda makes it golden.

yeh.

the Alcohol simply make you think you are feeling better. be a caution drinker. know what you are doing and dont en-danger anyone. :tonqe:

I don't believe that music and alcohol goes well together. A light drink to go along with music is fine, but heavy drinking is definitely a no-no. Your senses are weaker compared to times when you are fully awake, so it's difficult to make a good judgement when you are intoxicated.

Noise + music, maybe it works. Anything loud or bassy or melodic is probably good when one is intoxicated. It's ok if you are just doing recording at home. But if you're a DJ and you are intoxicated, you will realize the most basic thing to beatmatch is a terrible chore on a live set - just like how you depend on your ears to do music.

rock music is always connected to drugs

ROCK AND DRUG AND ALCOHOL..WAS A PAST LAH BRO...

AND WHO SAY ROCK MUSIC IS ALWAYS CONNECTED TO DRUGS?

Alcohol is a 'downer', it numbs your senses. Thta is why drink-drivers are more of a threat to others on the road - they take a longer time to react.

The reason it is good for music is that it takes away your inhibitions - makes you do things you would otherwise not do. That I believe provides a false sense of having "more feel". Truth is it actually makes you feel less. The other side of the coin, though, makes you gyrate your hips and feet to the music and gives you the extra mojo power to approach babes.

And yes 2-3 Baron's Strong Brew works wonders - I hear it can even make you think that you're actually a better technical guitarist than Vai.

and of course rock music has aways been associated with drugs. And it still is.

Oh don't say that manz ... I think it's a little unfair to rock music even though I am not a fan of it. Drugs exist in all forms of music. One of the reasons why underground electronic and house music were busted over the years is because of drugs. Old time house masters were known to be smoking pots and stuffs while on the set performing live. :)

Yah I was gonan say in music in general, but I could think of drugs related to classical, jazz and blues... hmm i'm probably wrong but you know.

The problem is that there have been instances of famous rock musicians who have OD'ed.

The truth is that in any profession, including doctoring (you'll be surprised at the number of physicians who are drug addicts), drug/alcohol abuse exists almost everywhere

edder: huh?

anyway i do think drugs are very much associated with rock music. hip hop included of course. but i mean whether you'd say it urself or not, public perception of rock icons damn often involve debauchery, parties 24/7, drugs, and alcohol.

dsnt have to be true to be public perception. but that's the association i guess...
