Most overrated guitarists

Half of those names you've mentioned arent anywhere near overated at all....

Secondly, man... you call kurt cobain overated? You wish you could write a song just by playing rhythm guitar like him man...

It aint bou't the technicalities.... It aint about the speed.... Its the fingers on your hand that can do the magic.... that catches the eyes and ears of anyone anywhere.... And thats what all those guitarists in your top 100 polls have managed to accomplish... in some way or another.... so peace out....
 
i think the really overrated ones are the jrock guys. who wont deny that nearly all the attention they get is due to them acting 'pretty'.
 
this thread is for opinions and his is as valid as yours is. although i wholeheartedly disagree with kurt cobain being labeled as overrated =/

How do you define a guitar god? Is guitar playing all about techniques? Is guitar playing how fast you can play?
 
Angus compared to Malcolm? Not sure.. Nobody I listen to are "overrated"..
Even those bands I don't like, like A7X, there are times when they come up with good riffs/solos that show that they're not so overrated..

I can't say Kurt Cobain or Tom Delonge, cause frankly speaking, they make simple stuff sounds so great.. Great lyricists, and adept at singing while strumming.. Although simple, they define simplicity! :mrgreen:
 
what i'm saying that there are many many more guitarists out there who deserve more recognition than kurt cobain.

of course guitar playing isnt all abt techniques or how fast you play. i didnt say that kurts guitar playing sucks or he cant shred or something like that.
 
haha, why is it that one of singaland more popular forum for music aften having open ended thread that either is going round and round in circle or totally ended not helping anyone musically or passing on good vibe other than negative energy wasted trying to justify who, is more hardcore, better, play longer, more this more that etc.

They are famous for a reason and i don't see the point in this thread .

To the threadstarter , get half as famous as the artistes you mentioned and then perhaps you'll be entitled to an opinion if not you're just a waste of bandwith

Synster gates definitely. He's not great at all, just cos he appeals to the younger crowd who claim they're fans of metal jus cos they listen to a7x. DIME, MORELLO, SLASH ARENT OVERRATED BTW! Dime- shred master. Morello- created sounds from the guitar that we thought might have come from a computer or a turntable. Slash- attitude, style and skill. Who can hate him, besides axl rose of course.
 
:confused:Dime is overrated, how, maybe his music is not for everyone but go & see what some well known guitarist has to say about Dimebag.
