Money spent getting your "tone"?

wah.... shredcow can only sound bad without fingers and eyes!!!!

ITS REALLY ALL ABOUT THE TONE!!!

hey guys, thanks iwanaguitar and rest for replying my thread:) yeah i shall go check out this A7X and seymour duncans... last time, ken, u know the i_am_ken guy told me a jazz neck will do. but i really dont know anything about pickups la haha.

still, i know amps are the most important..

and.. the last few threads a bit irrelevant actually... lol. play properly la.. haha.

btw, when i said about "how much spent getting your tone" i meant since day 1 when you started playing guitar, all the way to u finding the sound u love... yeahh...

ty:D

is this where i can boost about how much money i have spent on trying to sound like my idol?

some people want to learn to play properly to sound like their heros

some people want to learn how not to play something normaly to sound abnormally

heh, wanna bet? Those that spent too much money will never say how much and those that spent a bit will make it as if its all the world....

yah its funny nobody has answered Keith's question.. LOL..

well, for myself, less than $2k.

Money spent on an old fender twin reverb + repairs and tubes, a yamaha pacifica 112, a boss OD-3, BD-2, DD-6, TR-2 and CS-3 (all used), a zoom G2.1U which I sold off. I think most of the tone comes from the amp so no point splurgin too much on pedals.

In the midst of constructing a ceriatone tweed deluxe- but I'll not count this in.

I'm pretty happy with the tone I'm getting so yup, about <$2k. Mainly bluesey tones and light crunch tones.

I still consider this just a hobby so no point spending too much.

I might spend more if I take it up more seriously next time when I retire.. hurhur.

Does that answer the question?

yar! it does help... i have totally NO idea, lol! anw... so sorry then pathein, my bad from the start...

Oh yah, one other part of the story.. I actually started off with just the Zoom G2.1U to play around with just to find 'the sound'... realised after a few months that I mostly like the fender clean sounds out of the gadzillion sounds in the Zoom.. So after that, I just zoomed in (no pun intended) on the 'real thing'.. hurhur.

On hindsight, I should have kept the little zoom multiefx though.. really useful.

So if you have no idea, a good place to start would be a nice multiefx to play around with..

cheers :)

the funniest thing is... i loaned a KORG1500 from my youth leader. he lent me for its effects, and that i'd use it. but somehow or another it cant do overdrive sounds, no nice, clean powerful and compressed sounds.. just rar distortions, funky expression pedal effects..

and recently, i just tried connecting my guit to my amp and tweaking with my amp.. its a 20watt behringer amp... got it real cheap so didnt test it out last time. but i set bass to max, gain to max, mid to a bit less then half and 0 treble. i was able to find my smooth sound, or maybe somewhere there with my neck pickup. (its still stock btw)

quite cool la.. the korg is now sitting at a side.. i feel quite sad for it, lol.

priceless.
For everything else, there's mastercard.
Until now, i still can't get tom's guitar tone for the intro of dammit. So sad.

I would encourage you, instead of buying many separate stomp boxes, to purchase good multi effect processor. Read some reviews before buying.

Multi effects sound good if plugged into PA system or power amp (not regular guitar amp). Regular guitar amp with FX loop will do as well. Usually guitar amps of 50 Watts and above have FX loop. Have to plug the multi effect into "return" jack at the back of amplifier.

If you have small practice amp, do not buy multi effect. U may not get good tone.

If I knew above I will save lots of money on buying and changing gear :)

To me pickups are less important compare to sound gear but Gibson are my favorate.
