Missing Air France jet carrying 228 people hit by lightning

Just heard about this incident on the newspaper... Was quite stunned and dissapointed that another worst crash has happen.... Hope investigater can able to found the plane and found out the problem fast!!!!

Back in 2005 incident, another Air France flied in the stormy weather in Totroto & they successfully land on their international airport. But unfortunately, due to the heavy storm, the pilot encounter breaking problem which he cant stop the plane at all that the plane had to overrun the runway track & crash into outfield. The plane starting produces frames from the engine. Good news is that everyone were able to escaped before the whole plane got brunt badly

Speaking about those incident i currently now into Air Crash Investigation which shown on national geographic. You can catch the incident that i had mention in Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqS9qSDhyzg

haha i rmb gt pilot cos of quick thinkin(made the decisions in secs) basically save all of the crew, but that happen like once out of a million times.

I heard somewhr air flights still the safest travel tho, those guys mus be damn unlucky...

I believe weather WAS a factor in this incident. Varies from probable turbulence, icing, lightning, precipitation or even hail could have brought this plane down. My guess is that the plane suffers dual engine flameout and crash.

What's worst for the grieving families now is that, little hope to find any physical survivors for a proper burial. Most probably it'll be laid to rest like Titanic.....kilometers under the Atlantic.

i was told tat planes fly over the clouds... but for this case... it wen below the cloud coz they are nearing... but damn suay, tiok the thunderstorm.

But how could the plane have gone down? Can't be due to lightning, planes are immune and rigourously tested to be unaffected by lightning. Extremely strong turbulence? I would rule that out as well, since the Pilot did not even have time to make a distress call. That to me is the freakiest factor, no time to even make a distress call.

Yeah, it puzzles me too. Ever thought of the maintenance of the plane? There was one episode I watched in Air Crash Investigations episode that a plane went down n perished due to its faulty tail fin. This was due to carelessness and oversight of that airline firm. So this might be one to look into.

The past month has been quite unlucky actually. Indonesia got 2 air force planes crash. then now the a330. Recently an american airline got fined for using car aircon compressors for its aircraft.

Air France ahs had wayyy too many crashes under its name. Don't think i'll be flying them ever.

RIP to the lives lost.

Heard reports that nothing can be ruled out, including events such as a bomb or even a missile attack! That's how clueless the experts are about it. And there is most probably no hope of recovering the black box which is likely to be the only thing capable of telling the world what truly happened.

I think even the American satellites wouldn't be of too much help since there were storms which most of us can't even imagine going on.

People with more 'creative' minds like steviegfc can now rule out paranormal happenings here, Brazillian authorities have confirmed a 5km path of wreckage found in the Atlantic Ocean is that of the missing Air France jet.

French Minister says it is crucial to recover the black box. I wonder how on earth they are going to do it, when humanity currently has no idea of finding out what creatures even live at the bottom of the ocean.

I strongly believe its due to weather....

1) Turbulence: It is known that a severe turbulence can cause minor internal damages to the circuitry; or an air pocket that can cause a plane to dive hundreds meters. Combining these two factors, it may be the contributing factor for the crash.

2) Precipitation: A dual engine flameout due to icing or lightning strike, its a possibility.

3) Hail: The plane was hit by hail and suffers serious structural damage.

What i'm curious about is:

1) Lack of communication between pilot and ground control. Could lightning have short circuited the comms?

2) As reported, the debris was found over 35miles. In normal water impact, debris found are usually within 1 mile apart. This may suggest that something happened to that plane on air, not on water.

possible but we never know coz the speed of the plane before crashing play a part...

I think it broke up in midair and spread over a wide area before hitting the sea. 35 miles is a long distance
