Missing Air France jet carrying 228 people hit by lightning

yeah... kinda tragic and sad.
but on a lighter note, makes me wonder whether Azkaban really exist... or the bermuda triangle...

The chances that the jet was brought down by lightning is slim. [SIZE=-1]

The outer skin of most airplanes is primarily aluminum, which is a very good conductor of electricity. The lightning energy flow through the skin from the point of impact to some other point without interruption to the interior of the aircraft. In some cases, the energy caused damages to the electronic equipments and most cases, burnt marks on the exterior.

Condolence to the families of the victims.

i pity the family members of the passengers and crew... haiyah...

i now abit worried liao... parents just went overseas holiday... landed safely... but the coming back part worries me especially after reading this news...
aiyah...

Feels like EDMW.

Doesn't help that Singapore has an Ah Beng and an Ah Lian to 'teach' its citizens social graciousness.

Fancy Phua Chu Kang saying "Don't Pretend To Sleep! Give Up Your Seats To Those Who Need It More!" and Rosie telling commuters "Let Me Come Out First Lah!" on decals found on the public transport system these days.

I find it very sad indeed.

haha may they get free dose of flight in heaven

wow... very 'nice'...

i dun reli get the 'lost' or real life lost joke or watsoeva sia... be sensitive la ppl...
thousands of ppl are freaking crying worrying abt their family members etc... it didnt happen to us so we dunno how it feels

steviegfc: That was totally uncalled for. When somebody's families are in a state of turmoil, u still have the audacity to make funny comments? Gosh. Both my parents are overseas as well and I always pray that they return here safely.

An airlplane that goes down due to thunderstorms and lightning is something that is unheard of. Guess we will have to leave it up to the rescue team to find the plane and prepare for the worst. :(

wow tough crowd tonight

I am really sorry guys, dunnoe what hittin my head lately, mayb cos i gt knock into dark humour recently (no pun intended)

Latest info from Yahoo:

Pilots flying a commercial jet from Paris to Rio de Janeiro for Brazil's largest airline, TAM, spotted what they thought was fire in the ocean along the Air France jet's route early Monday, the airline said in a statement e-mailed to The Associated Press.

Brazilian Air Force spokesman Col. Jorge Amaral said authorities were investigating the report, according to the Agencia Brasil official news service.

"There is information that the pilot of a TAM aircraft saw several orange points on the ocean while flying over the region ... where the Air France plane disappeared," Amaral said.

"After arriving in Brazil, the pilot found out about the disappearance (of the Air France plane) and said that he thought those points on the ocean were fire."

Worst fears are confirmed :(

Oh no. That is such a tragedy. They had already suspected that there would have been no survivors...But still. When there are no bodies, the families still hang on to some hope. It must be a terrible thing when families of deceased people have no body to bury yet they've been told that their loved one is definitely dead.

May God be with all the grieving families & soothe their anguished hearts. :(
