Militant escape- Security in S'pore?

I mean they have already a certain set of protocols. Of course the minister has to answer for it, but if the technology and manpower fail to work, what can the minister do?

i dunno why i'm posting it up but i think it has some kind of IMPACT

What's the point of changing the head? Shouldn't you be changing the one who has screwed up? The technology and manpower which have all screwed up?

Anyway, I think Mas Selamat looks very normal.

the fact that he's a minister, he's answerable regardless of the technological shenanigans in place... if one is the minister, accountability is first & foremost. whether your head will roll is up to the other authorities/ system to decide.

the head is where the brain is, that's the reason why other parts work.

hopefully mas selamat is caught

i do know some of our fellow softies involved in this operation to apprehend him
pray hard they are safe and sound

you're not looking into his eyes. LOOK INTO HIS EYES

anyway, how do you know that the head didn't screw up? how sure are you that it is the people on the ground who are at fault? if they are just following, as you mentioned, protocols, then they will not be at fault. it is the problem of the protocols. and then it is the fault of the person implementing the protocols, the technology, allocating the manpower etc. if that person is incompetent, it is the fault of whatever authority that put him there in the first place.

maybe what i'm saying is, if you put a monkey to do a man's job, and the monkey screws up, don't blame the monkey.

we have law enforcers, business folks, military personnels, personal fitness trainers, radio deejays, beer brewers... any MPs/ ministers on board?

it is not for you, i or the straits time to decide whether he should be locked up. it is for the judicial system in singapore to decide. and have they decided? no. he has not been determined to be guilty of planning acts of terror, or as subversion already mention, not convicted. that is justice. so don't be so easily swayed by media sensationalism

bro jeepers

just an understanding of how the system works

mas selamat is detained under ISA.
for convicted prisoners=prison.serve a time and sentence as passed under Sub Courts,High Courts..

for ISA detainess=whitley detention centre
why?
they are not convicts per se as they are never brought to Courts of Law
they are detained under an infinite amount of time whereby their cases are reviewed for 2 years periodically..till then they are detained at the President's pleasure

i apologise for my ignorance in this matter.

i am guessing that since singapore's security is 'so good', the fact that he still hasn't been found probably suggests that he has fled the country. after all, he had a nice 4-hour window to do it.

i will tell you right now why there was a 4 hour lapse: it took 4 hours for them to try to save themselves from embarrassment, and realise that they couldn't clean up their own mess, and a cover-up was not possible.

Totally agree with shinobi. during that 4 hours he could have walked on the streets like a normal man and not be recognised. and furthermore he could have left the country already.

another shocking fact,

mas selamat was initially arrested by indonesian police for using a fake id. it was only later on did they find out that he was the head of JI

anyway i dont think he would have wasted time walking on the streets in the 4 hours that he had

if you lived in the vicinity... and you saw some random malay uncle walk on the street... and then hours later the police come asking HAVE YOU SEEN THIS MAN HE IS MAS SELAMAT LEADER OF JI OMFG!! i doubt you would even remember

+1. i find this disturbing. yes, there would be a time lapse for some info/ action to be taken but 4 hrs? if the relevant authorities are able to disclose details & account for this, maybe we'd understand better...

conspiracy theory here

during the 4 hours,he might dressed himself as a woman wearing the full veil, exposing the eyes only

who will notice or checked?

this is a man who went to train in afghan and moro islands.he has probably more real combat experience than our army guys.

he has breathe, live and think like a terrorist should...to get into a terrorist mindset, read the bio of terrorist for hire carlos the jackal..

these guys would always have plan A,B,C,D,E etc etc

for once, the singapore's safe and secured environment is flawed. something's wrong...like what you softies said, it's most probably an inside job. i got a feeling he has fled elsewhere already. maybe to some "ulu ulu" island.

i really wonder how long this manhunt / lockdown will last. operational manpower is something that we dont have a luxury of. and the stepping down of security would just bring about negative repercussions. time for the spin doctors to get their work cut out for them dontcha think.

he might be a the plainsunset gig tmr! hahahahha.
when the sun rises again, i'll be there with you my friend, and i'll be there, looking over your shoulders
