Metal in Singapore's Society...

Must be the scary...

There's something similar to that!
Dinner at Deviant's Place - Cradle of Filth. ^_^

Ah.

Also,another thing.

There may be a rise of posers when metal starts to get popular,or when they're on the radio.
Lets see,I don't mind a radio playing metal/rock.
But if I see an increase of idiots who claim they're metal heads and stuff when they're not,and they just wanna 'act' cool.

Well...Whatever.

-

There are some pop friends of mine who go, " stop listening to metal!! ", "metal is bad!".

Maybe next time I shall let them know, before I started listening to metal I was like some of them, acting cute and being stupid.

Metal fuels my passion,I started playing an instrument and joined a band because of some of my precious metal bands.

I managed to survive till now because of them, too.

-

Before metal,I was a pop,punk rock-person.
Well, when I started off with metal,it was System of a Down.
So not such a big change there, but I was aware of more stuff around me since I started listening.

Now its stuff like Children of Bodom,Cradle of Filth,Korn,Atreyu,Slipknot,X Japan.

And lol, well,if you're talking about satanic bands,I suppose Cradle might fit in it.

-

So asking me to stop metal is like telling me to leave my passion behind.
Hmm,I doubt I'll be doing that.

a passion so burning so strong, the flames of the infernal hell staggers in comparison. \m/

rock revolution on power98 sometimes will play a few heavier songs... but that's about all the metal you get in singapore... online radio's the only option left.

you dont see an altar for the devil on stage dont you?

and if you want to talk about actions, alice cooper was as crazy as he could have got, you mean in actual he's actually that crazy? it's just an act.. how one acts OFF STAGE decides it..

and besides, even not all norwegian black metal bands are trully satanic... and once again, acts of church burning are performed OFF STAGE..

Ariedartin: what are you trying to prove?

^ agrees with Nak...what artistes bring to the stage is just an act...its just that this society is so gullible that they think everything is real...and is similar to real life...even believing in Reality TV

hearts on fire hearts on fire burning burning with desire!!!

anyway, im not in the idea for metal to be played on mainstream airtime.
metal will always be of the underground.

come to think of it, it was also mentioned somewhere in this thread.
that if metal becomes mainstream it'll definitely become another passing fad for our society and that is going to hurt the meaning of metal.

you dont want a group of kids going "HEY! i was so into slayer for like a month, now im into sepultura!"
you get the idea.

You would be surprised at the demand of metal concerts in Singapore.
well, everything is relative. i don't deny its large... but i don't think its large enough yet... especially if u add in the element of LOCAL bands...

most people are already not so supportive of metal... and more are not supportive of local bands...

large scale local metal gig? u, ur friends, my friends and i may go... but we're not the whole population of singapore...

who would sponsor these stuff? knowing that not many people would look at their advertisements in these events as compared to maybe Singapore Idol?

The only way to make a big scale concert is to depend on the metalheads themselves. Put like 4-7 solid bands on stage. Question is, will they come to enjoy?(at the same time pay ticket entry and help organisers cover their cost)...LAMC won't take such risks. So only time will tell which organiser will take such risks and organise a successful concert...involving local bands.

here is ur answer: HELL YEAH!! with kick ass sound equipment and awesome stage, bands will deliver. Crowd will be moved. Because we're never given the chance to. The best so far is konsert rock gerek.

no organiser will dare to take that risk...
whether the bands will deliver is not much of a problem..
the thing is... will there be ppl going... you gotta realise the metal market is not big. maybe in soft it is. but if you go on the streets.. girls dont dig metal just yet. girls(rightnow) wanna see handsome guys singing love songs to them. not handsome guys screaming their heads off.
get metal on the radio regularly first i feel would help if a major local metal gig is to be held in singapore...

but anyway, I think we need to make a dedicated metal station? give the metal scene here a good jumpstart. is Ria dedicated to metal? I don't think so...

I can agree Ria's station is not that dedicated but a show within it's airtime is. Being around for a few years, changing it's name from Ria Rock to Vicious Volume, playing material from Heavy Metal, Death Metal, Hardcore, Grindcore, local metal bands and many more that involves around metal. And not to mentioned playing those stuff every week. I think thats dedicated enough.

Some people don't even know about it and those who do sometimes don't even bother. :?
