41mm or 43mm nut size (you got to measure)

you can post pictures :wink: but I won't be able to tell if it's 41mm or 43mm

or alternatively you can check with washburn support to find out the specs. of the nut.

Hi guys,

I think my case is a little different... I'm using an Ibanez SA160, non floyd rose guitar.

I was thinking of modding it for this Gotoh Floyd setup. However, the measured nut width is 42mm. Which size should I order?

Also, Top or bottom mounted?

Btw, I'd like to change my colour to Chrome... heard lots of bad things bout the Cosmo Black finish

VG2021, you will have to go thru a LOT of hassle to modify your SA to a floyd rose.

It really makes much more sense to save and purchase a floyd rose guitar.

The SA160 is an entry level SA, so you will be spending easily 1/2 its cost to install a floyd.

Hi ShredCow, I measured the trem for my SA160 and it looks like the Floyd can fit the current post positions (though the FLoyd studposts are bigger in diameter) I thought I could install in for dive only, ala Fender Strats with Floyd w/o the cavity dug out for pull-ups.

If the bridge goes in easy, I might use Graphite nuts instead of a locking nut, n of course locking tuners to help.

What do you think?

vg... its much more complicated than that... there are routing issues as well.... also... installing a locking nut will cost u $$$ too...

VG2021, I still don't recommend it. If you are confident of your measurements of the posts and the current routing, depth of route etc etc, you can try.

but a Floyd thats dive only, does not make sense to me at all.. actaully, any trem thats dive only doesn't make sense to me.

You can get away with locking tuners, no locking nut, but if you are doing that, why go for the high performance floyd rose?

You will be better off swapping your trem with some of other the Gotoh trems on that Jap website if the trem posts align.

i think mine is a bottom mount.saw 2 damn holes underneath the neck. its 43cm for sure. sorry to update late man~ recently kinda busy with work..
