I agree with Edder that this is DEFINTELY a "popularity" contest. No disrespect to any of the currant qualifiyers or previous contestants but I mean there were some truly KICK ASS ppl out there who were eliminated e.g. Alan Shahdosham, the malay chick (who got booted out last week) B.A.R.B etc ... I mean these were really some class acts. IMHO Fendi and Robert has got the pipes for it and By Defination are the dog's bollocks for the finals but then again this is reality TV? or is it?

Anyway, just to share a little info, my guys & me Retro Groove actually cleared the 1st audition but some of us were really unhappy with some of the "rules and unwritten aspects as well as comments" leading my drummer to quite unceremoniously utter these words (while being filmed in the interview section) and I quote Geri "We came here to live our dreams, not live your dreams!" - unquote. Needless to say, we didnt even bother waiting for the results after the 2nd audition.

Boy - somebody's sure getting rich from all the SMS voting thingys going on...

Anyway, Im sure the powers that be know what they are doing...

Some of the guys in RG hadnt performed on TV B4 and wanted to try it .... so .... there U go...

The whole build up prior to the show was kinda promising but the fine print of it being a popularity contest was not that visible .... no worries just keep on rockin lah !!

Yeah the sound mixing sucks. They turn off the overdrive and distortion, and make the drums sooo soft. That is, the rock acts.

I think the entire competition is crap la.

Not because of popularity or whatever, but simply because there is no talent whatsoever being showcased.
The bands are all quite bad to be honest, the solo singers are alright but nothing special.

It's basically Singapore Idol rehashed. Just to earn money.

Um, I don't know what you mean by the "line".

But come on la, the bands are average at best, their all already 25+ years old and still sound below the amateur level.
And you can't say just because you've seen worse bands in other gigs (I'm assuming thats what you're trying to say) it somehow justifies how the bands are like that.

most working bands would have found it hard to apply for leave every wed, not to mention weekends burnt for rehersals, additional filming etc...leceh lah

Many good bands in the auditions doe ..hahahaa ...after the rain auditioned just before Retro Groove with that Snow Patrol song.

Anyway, all artistes have to work within the stipulated "parameters" of the organizers so its not easy on them.

personally, im sick of these shows...if theres ever a decent music talent show, the supporters would not be allowed to vote, and the judges will decide everything. But too bad, tv stations wouldnt like it, probably go bust...oh well, like singapore so small, then got so many rigged talent shows, everywhere you walk, you will see 'idols'.lol...eventually, we'll have a chance too...dun worry..haha..

i was at the mediacorp for the last week one, not too bad, think by definition and robert sunga will win...the rest are not outstanding...haha, john.Molina was the celeb judge last week, so funny...like hes captivated by the girlss...

if milo-peng's performance wasnt whole-ly precorded. AT least the instruments were. the drummer's strokes on the drums didnt match during some parts of it.

so much for a LIVE guest appearance. and the chinese in an english show is another thing that doesnt quite work - for me at least.
