he does use auto wah as well :D

sorry to ask, wad is an auto wah? how does it work. u mean it automatically sounds w/o stepping on the wah pedal?

yeah it wahs for you automatically.
its not nice at all.

but there are some who like it.

but what they meant here was when he uses a wah it sounds like he is using a autowah. cause he wahs every single note. especially live.

ic. ya he wahs almost every note live in the last solo in fade to black, & all u hear is like waaahhh waaahhh in the solo. i tink it'd sound betta w/o the wah in that solo though.

i think e onli song dat i can rmb off hand dat they don use a wah is nothing else matters. mainly coz james plays e solo.

but i think some songs kirk uses e wah in a most effective way, eg, battery. i don think e main solo would sound as great without e wah. i watched a cover of e solo by some guy on youtube. he didnt use e wah, n didnt sound as gd.

Jame's solo on Nothing Else Matters is a good solo.

Anyway, I dig mustaine a lot more, rather, megadeth. A very interesting band to me, the riffs are legendary... i found metallica rather boring even when I first started on guitar, strange huh?

i tink dave & kirk have are special in their own ways. i rmb dave talked bout dis spider technique in guitar playing, but not sure wad isit, u guys know?

but either mustaine or kirk, metallica will still be gods of metal. :D

Corect me if I'm wrong. Spider technique uses all 4 fingers of your fretting hand when playing power chords. Eg. when you are playing B and changing to G. Pointing and ring fingers are usually used when playing right? But instead of shifting them from B to G, the middle and pinky fingers are used instead. So middle takes over the pointing finger's position while pinky takes over ring ones. Its kind of economical to play plus reduces the sliding sound. The movement is kinda "spiderish" so thats why mustaine calls it spider technique. I use it too but not that expertly.

muz first learn how to use an auto-wah, before saying not nice at all

for metal, then it won't sound nice at all, but for funk, its tou-nk, ketta, tou-nk, nice

besides if i'm not wrong the auto-wah everybody is referring to here is the foot juz going up and down the wah pedal in a veri sinusoidal way rite?

Well... for funk... they do use an envelope filter.... what you might be referring to instead of an auto wah.. auto wahs just sweep up and down, and there's not dynamic envelope.

Yes.

Filter pedals are the unspoken tone secrets ....
People (especially those who don't own one) will just assume it being a 'funk' type effect ...

Oh yes...

Analogue Filter into Citrus into that zhng-ed Boss CE-2 (phase mode, rate high)....

Slooooow strummed chords blossom into magical ... stuff...

Add wah pedal for more control. 8)

He may have used tat wah a lil too excessive, but hes still one of my main influence.
Not many guitarists are able to mix in sweeps, slow bluesy runs and more into one song. And futhermore, how many guitarists out der have solos that stuck in ur head for days besides kirk.

Plus hes not a wanker **cough**malmsteen**cough**, his solo sings. :)

Hmm.

^^^ hahah... **cough cough** malmsteem posers **cough cough** more like.

Cannot flame the guy now that he's coming to town.

haha.. malmsteen is.. haha nvm.
you guys seen the vid where he buys this fender and just dumps it into his car??

and kirk?
I think he just cool in his won way.
but one thing i seriously think that he is good at is his stage presence and feel when he is playing.

you're right, tahts the spider technique.
amazing stuff, kinda hard to do, requires alot of co-ordination.
plus all that singing while playing those riffs...scary..

+10 to Megadeth!

I only know that kirk is a more blues-based player.

I HATE it when anyone says this... Kirk Hammett is NOT a blues-based player. He is a PENTATONIC based player... NOT Blues.

Clapton is blues. Johnson is blues. SRV is blues. Andy Timmons is blues. Kirk Hammett is NOT blues.
