honestly speaking guys, without the point being brought out, i didn't quite notice it or find it irritating..... YET, that is. But that might be because i'm only a consumer (as opposed to some others who are in the business too) so they might find it more blatant? I can't also imagine all the sponsors or shops chipping in our forum conversations with what they have in stock. SPAM central!
Yeah I do agree he did contribute posts which are totally off topic.
I've been to ebenex a couple of times already and in reality they're nice people (no, i don't know them and i'm not working for them). Maybe they're just too excited to launch their business further with range of stuff they get to bring in...

i agree with blueark's later post.. it makes full sense that ebenex is using a really vague tone (NOT ANY NORMAL PEDAL) to justify their claims, which may seem political.
wadever the cause, wadever the adverts, i'm sure they will not repeat their actions anymore, as they claimed to accepting feedback, being open and looking for ways of improvement.

The main issue is the David's advertisments, may they be overt, covert, warranted or unwarranted.
Now, the guy has already apologised and gave his word that he would stop spamming his adverts.
And furthermore, everyone has already been made aware of this situation.
It doesn't really matter if David was glib or vague.
In my eyes, the problem's solved. And the continuing criticism or comments are unnecessary.
I find no need in making it any more difficult for him to at least bow out from this situation with some 'face' intact.

You are right, i just sign up just to post here. You can say that i'm a happy customer of Ebenex and i just hate to see a good person being bullied. I would not have defend for them if i have not seen Ebenex apology, which i agree they have somehow gone overboard of the advertisement, but what's the point to carry on this thread since they have already admitted the mistake.
i'm just too noob to contribute in other thread if you ask me why i did not post, i prefer to read.

2. Forum has adverts, these are for? Maintaining the forum.
3. Do we want to promote or discourage adverts INSIDE of threads?
4. If we want to promote them, what do we do? Nothing. They'll take care and multiply happily on their own.
5. If we want to discourage them, what do we do?
Number 5 is the big question.
In a way it is directed more at James than anyone else.
I have raised an important issue which pertains to the culture of a forum. What do we do with inappropriate behavior? I was not doing a witch hunt or looking for any apology. All I'm curious to know is, where do we go from here?
If my behavior in raising tough topics such as this is considered inappropriate for this forum, then please. Close this thread and ban me, then you can go back to your happy lives which require less mental stress.

in addition, we have also agreed openly not to 'spam'/post ads on every guitar effects related thread and will definitely keep our word.
in the future, if anyone sees an unrelated post from us that even vaguely resembles an ad, let me know and i'll personally delete/edit the post ASAP.
however, we still reserve the right to post commercial material on our sponsored section of the forum and to answer any direct questions posted to us. i'm sure no one will blame us for that.
hopefully, ebenex music would be given a chance to be an active part of this vibrant community and it is my deepest desire for this matter to be put to rest.

This reminds me of a thread I started on a local bike forum seeking to separate the commercial from the daily chatter.
There was one individual who went around spamming every thread and effectively KILLING every thread with a one liner "CALL ME".
He was one of us bike enthusiast at the beginning but with a long term plan. To open a shop. Nothing wrong with that man... but its the execution of the master plan that is wrong. After opening the shop, he would spam every thread with "CALL ME".
Imagine, someone ask about the model number for his bike's head light. CALL ME. Whats the correct roller weight for XYZ scooter? CALL ME. Is there a difference when you do open port for the filter. CALL ME. Will I be able to date Fiona Xie out for dinner tomorrow? CALL ME. You get my drift.
A forum exists to share, exchange information, methods, etc etc. Those who are in the business CAN contribute positively too thro discussion and discussing the pros and cons of stuff as they are the ones with the first hand experience with it. It is appreciated and it adds credibility.
I for one will tell you what pedals NOT to buy from the line I carry cos they suck and are badly designed. Sorry I can't be more detailed else I kena ANOTHER complaint to my supplier in US. :wink:

Oktoberfest is near and beer guzzlers in SG can get to enjoy Oktoberfest on the 28th 29th and 30th this month at GardenAsia on Neo Tiew Road (by Sungei Buloh) in Kranji. Heard that its organised by the 4 microbreweries in SG and they'll be serving 15 kinds of beer. YUMMY!
