How do u find the metalcore scene in Singapore?

I don't listen to metalcore, but I can see where the threadstarter is coming from. Personally I enjoy being in a mosh pit, however I understand completely why some people don't want to mosh. But a little movement wouldn't hurt.

What I hate the most is when a bunch of people stand there with their arms folded with serious faces. It really kills the atmosphere when everyone does that. I'm pretty sure the band gets put off by that as well.
But I guess you can do whatever you want, what a pity though.

For the life of me, I just can't understand bands with songs where basically the singer sings with the most annoying emo-ishness with his whiney voice, singing about sadness and feeling down and suicidal (typical emo stuff) then suddenly breaks out into a gnarly growl you usually associate with brutal hardcore.

Are there bands in Singapore with this kind of weird (at least to me) 'music'?

ps Do you think it's easier to become a vocalist in a metal band where you only need to growl? Don't remember lyrics, nevermind. No one will notice, most probably. And don't have to understand musical theory. :mrgreen:

Don't understand music theory is one thing, can keep odd timing is another :/
core bands nowadays trying to outdo each other with weirder, more pewpew breakdowns.

Also, in one As I Lay Dying Song called Through Struggle (which I LOVE), the chorus goes like this 'Remove from me, this deception, that I call love' and he shout-growls it. I found it pretty funny.

Anyway what happened to a7x, bullet for my valentine and trivium fans???
I started listening to metalcore with those bands, now everyone seems to hate them

from what i hear, a7x moved towards a more hard rock sound while trivium towards a more thrash metal sound.

heafy's voice in singing and growling is really awesome. guttural stuff.

for BFMV, my cousin/band guitarist is a fan of theirs. his guitar also follow Matt Tuck's guitar. hahaha

I ended up at a metalcore gig a few months back... and they were taunting that emo sucks...
My God! How contradicting... Look at their hair and style! Totally emo! Hair like mop, dress in cheap cheap gothic clothes from pasar malam, and band shirts that cost 12 a piece from Peninsula...

That's singapore scene for you... Apparently, Metalcore listeners associate themselves well with EMOS... and listening to their stuff... They can't differentiate hardcore and metalcore...
