how bad is NS?

30s old meh ???

30s old meh ???

our DR.SOFT is oso 30s, so you are
indeed browsing an old website forum ?!

30s is not OLD! It's the prime of your life loR! Look at the soccer starS peak at 29 to 33++ ok lor!!

The best soldiers are also the lao jiaos 8 to 10 years into their cycles. :)

Singapore soldiers are mostly tough as nuts...we all suffer shit (except the chao geng)...officer, NCO, men...all the same... but sometimes also quite proud.. there was once were we spore soldiers beat the pants off the US marines in joint training... they're very big and strong...but they can't walk very far and can't walk fast...can't work well when their radios don't work in the jungle.

But sometimes when you think about it, tough training is a MUST for a small nation like us. It's just very very sad about the accidents that can be avoided.

what about flat footed people like me?

i heard that people with flat foot no need to go NS cause they scared u very clumsy keep on falling down....

flat-footed ppl still have to do NS. u just get PES B status, at most, if im not wrong. and u do everything else that everyone else does.

unless NS has degraded by now to the state of boy scout adventure camp.

That is correct. Too many flat footed people. If they get excused, our army will decrease in numbers dramatically.

my fren in BMT now told me that his usual routine for the day....

morning wake up , morning exercise for about 15-30 mins den go for breakfast.after breakfast go and sleep.afternoon wake up for lunch , after lunch sleep until 2-3 plus den go for some activitiy.come back 5 plus go back to sleep den later dinner time after dinner time a short debriefing by the officer in charge and den it's free and easy.

basically i really did not care about wad activities they had but i was more concerned wif how many times he mentioned the word "sleep"

dont talk cock leh. haha, sleep here and there!

haha, liddat mre relax then any other type of occupation leh. cept prostitute, cos they get more SLEEP.

hehe, no offence bros, just a joke.

no i'm serious...that's wad he said

and i'm sure everyone else agrees wif me now that NS has indeed become more slack as compared to the 70s and 80s

den also my form teacher last year also said the same thing when he related his 5 days reservist training to us.his platoon suppose to fall in at 8am , that fella sleep until 9am den never kenna tekan by officer.they all juz dun care like dat...den after fall in can go back sleep and the story goes on and on wif the word "sleep" being repeated a few times....

Resevist is different.... U r king.... got this reservist.... his was duty driver till 5 pm... at 5.05 pm... got a officier just ask him to drive this jeep forward a bit so that got space to park another tonner... " Ah sorry sir, off duty.. u do urself k." den he go and find place place sleep

haha.. yes. that's what i heard about BMT too. but that's just for hte PTP phase. it's eat, exercise, sleep. because of the previously-ignored-but-now-enforced rule of ceasing all training if the temperature is above 32 or 34C, it is apparently "not efficient to do anything but sleep" during the hot afternoons. according to my cousin, even the COS sleeps (!!!).

now if only siesta could become a national habit. i'd love that.

i' ve heard quite a number of ghost stories, frm people who are 2months into bmt. Most of the stories occured in tekong. how scary is that. Some people see things we dont see everyday.

all bluff one lar..... mostly is got a bit of truth... from there pass from ppl to ppl bluff abit more .... end up incredible ghost story

got story of a guy say he got possessed or something then say very errie stuff

Don't worry. The ghost stories are bull.

There are only good 'spirits' in Tekong. Otherwise, how would you explain the fact that my TOPO group found our signal set antennae that had fallen off in the middle of nowhere in Tekong in the darkness of the night.
(note: a signal set antennae looks like a large twig at night, and Tekong is full of twigs).

We still managed to come in 2nd or 3rd in the platoon.

topo ?

halo LowJK,

wat? a MO need to topo meh?
or are you a scout ?

i rememeber ppl saying dun eat pork in tekong on Friday
if not at nite you can't sleep. is tat so?

but my platoon attach there for arrow work
just makan pork as per normal on Friday,
not sure anything happen ?

heard lots of stories abt tekong
but really in army best way is to stick together
with your buddies, you wun noe wat will happen

Haha....

Never lost any equipment in Tekong before.... only "misplace".. like when on TOPO exercise in Tekong...some numb nut dropped his bayonet AND his map. Then activate company to go and find. No worries man, even in the deepest most remote part of the swamp, anything lost can be found (especially with hundreds of poor fellows searching)

As for ghost stories, I can't say for sure, coz I'm not a believer of such stuff, but I can say strange things happened before, not only in Tekong.

Anyway, MO go TOPO quite sad.... met a guards BCS section in tekong before... the MO in charge was pretty pissed that the he had to join the 72km route march with the battalion...(On foot!)

What to do? Almost everyone thinks that the MO has a good life. There are some who don't believe it when I tell them we have to follow the battlion out for field exercises; They think all the MO does is sit on his butt in his aircond room in the medical centre.

I'm one of those who sit on my butt in the medical centre. But I have the lousy job travelling the entire island everyday of the week - thanks to HQMC. I had to cover Pasir Laba, Selarang, Clementi, Tekong, Beach Road, Mindef, SAFTI, Naval Base, and a few other places I can't remember.
