guiatrists, wat were the very 1st things u learnt as a noob?

I started out with Gn'R, knocking on heaven's door. Basically learning to play the chords. After learning the basic chords, can more or less figure out the chords to popular songs by listening to the bass notes. And then... I discovered this thing called tabs. haha... well, that was donkey years ago, but playing still suck now. *P

When I heard More Than Words, I was so amazed! (I is from the country side lah) I wanted so much to learn that song. practiced every single day. Btw, I started out with a folk guitar, so it hurt pretty bad for a short while. I believe the most important thing is wanting to learn. Find yer cousin a song he/she really wants to learn.

The very very first things I learnt were open chords on an acoustic followed by stuff like how to properly hold my guitar, upstrum/downstrum techniques, then power chords, barre(moveable) chords when I got my electric guitar.

First song I learnt was When I Come Around by Green Day =)

The First thing i learn as a guitarist.... is to play what is needed for a song.. and not to overplay... blend in.. play as a whole not as a soloist...

At 8 years old, I had this little orange guitar chord book that my sister used. I learnt how to play chords D and A. I gave up not long after that because it hurt like hell on the folk guitar.

Didn't touch guitar again until about 12 when I was a boy scout, and the campfires introduced the guitar to me again. Classical ones, not so painful. Phew. Back to chords again of course...lol.

well analyse ur problem scientifically  if u get stuck, its probably because ur pick is too deep in. practice makes permanent..so keep on trying. just brush across..

how to prastise struming? always kenna stuck between the strings
hold the pick in such a way that it's pointing in a direction away from the direction you're strumming. So, if you're strumming downwards, the pick should be pointing at an angle upwards and vice versa. The strumming movement should come from your wrist. That way, pick direction will come naturally. If you're moving your whole forearm and locking your wrist, you're more likely to get stuck. Relax the wrist. Try different holding pressure on the pick, too.

started out with my first song ever "Happy Birthday". namely learning the chords G, C and D. first thing was to practice changing of chords and getting used to it.

for strumming, always start with downward strumming. then once you're used to it. do both downward and upward then later on play with rhythm.
