guiatrists, wat were the very 1st things u learnt as a noob?

I started by learning where A, B, C, D, E, F and G were. Then learned to read tabs and proceeded on to play Green Day songs.

MadWereWolfBoy, there's an Avril Lavigne version of American Idiot too...absolutely horrid stuff!

if u dont kno how to plae chords, wont u be like 'paralysed'?so many things u cant do if u dont play chords...

i agree. chords are the fundementals of guitar.

imagine learning the pentatonic scale first in guitar..

start of with pentatonic. easy shape. the box. u can variate patterns so it trains ur string skipping. THEN u go on to scales. which are more notes

It took a long time for me to bother to learn chords too, till one day i said to myself, ok stop checking books and tabs all the time and start memorising stuff....

the only chords i know are power chords. indeed now i feel paralysed, but trying to catch up on lost time. i started out on songs first, then scales, now chords.

Chords, at least to me is like drinking water.. even if i blind.. i also will remember.. Not dissing anybody... Juz that chords are realyl simple...

Play abit, all in your mind already...

I memorised chords, and played on a borrow guitar after secondary school for about 2 hours. Then went home where I managed to loan my Church classical guitar, and carried on playing. Usually 4 - 6 hours a day.

hurts like f***

I learn that it hurts like f*** if you play on an old guitar with rusty strings and it cuts your finger tips but u still carry on playing cos Bon Jovi said played till me fingers bled and then u had to go for a tetanus jab for the fear of lock jaw which gave u a fever due to the immune system acting up against the antigen.

Yeap lesson learnt.
