I decided to strip the black finish off and sand it to bare wood..

Check back here for more updates!

skipper53: Thanks man, can't wait to have it rewired and setuped and it'll be ready to rock :)

imkeith: Haha yup, took me 2 weeks to get the whole paint off but it was well worth the wait and patience..

cool i've always thought ppl use some sortta rotary tool or something to remove the paintjobs, seems like a lil chiseling works too

bf0502tr: Thanks man, if u remember my band, Hidden Tracks, when we both played at the 1st ever SOFT gig, I'm the guy with the black Strat n thats the body I stripped off :p

imkeith: Yeah, a sander tool would have been much faster but since I'm a newbie to this n dun feel qualified to handle such tools, I used chemical stripper and just chiseled away day by day. Took 2 weeks but it's worth it : P

wooo nice!! waiting for the next time to hear the same strat in action with a totally new look :D
btw the same strat i used that day has been given a makeover...new neck!! :D

That's a hell lot of scraping! LOL... But I suspect the scraping would leave uneven marks on the surface. A final sanding down will make it perfect! May as well remove the paint in the neck pocket and trem cavity, too.

imkeith: Its poly coated, and hence a lot or work on the scraping...:p

lazy3yed: Spot on! Ur right! There's uneven marks on the surface and thats actually the sealer finish, which I'm not going to going to remove. I already did the final sandings to remove the black paint residue and make the body smoother. Not going to remove the paint from the neck pocket and trem cavity haha, since it won't alter the overall appearance. With all the scratches to be seen n some wood that has been dug in, I've already achieved my goal of making the body look relic :p

Btw, the body that I stripped is a Mighty Mite swamp ash body :)

I just got my Ultimate slide from the good people at Diamond Bottlenecks!

Ironically, it coincides with CNY eve and I was supposed to receive a RED one but that one actually did not measure up to my finger's size. Pity, the red was beautiful, you can dig up the past few posts to see how it looks.

Thank goodness he made me another one that fits absolutely perfect on my finger, and the colour is equally magnificent.

@faizal_rocks: TASTY!

Thanks man ;)

I'll be getting either a Warmoth or Musickraft neck in the future to replace the Allparts one here cos for me, I prefer some modern features like jumbo frets and 12 inch radius unlike the Allparts which has small frets and 7.25 inch radius, which feels like no kick to me hahaha...I know, cos I have an Allparts neck on my other Strat with jumbo frets and 12 inch radius :)
