just bought the jimi hendrix systems classic fuzz..
man.. getting great sounds out of it!
it's my first experience with a fuzz pedal.. perhaps i'll try more!
although, i did manage to try a truly beautiful disaster..
suits the name.. damn weird pedal though!

now how do i describe a sound... i totally rove describing sounds! :twisted:

ok... my definition of a fuzz... or the fuzz that i hear in my head.

1) A drive pedal that response well to picking dynamics. Strum it soft and it'll be clean, whack it hard and it distorts. Turn the volume knob down and it cleans up. Inbetween sounds like a mix of clean and fuzzy.
2) Notes must "bloom". Sustaining fuzzy notes should die off gradually to a clean sound.
3) Old classic fuzz kinda sound should have wobbly bottoms while modernisation makes the bottoms tight.
4) Clarity is a must.
5) Be able to handle high gain yet minimising hiss.

Yeah that pretty sums up the pedal I'm trying to do.

those people in the list there sells lots pedals which are popular i guess. Heh, the designers maybe bitterly hidding in corner or still quietly hiding in corner and working on other things

Once you play a fuzz you'll get the differences... I'd say in terms of sound, fuzz lacks the "clean-ness" of a typical overdrive or distortion... but then again, a fuzz-styled circuit can sound similar to an overdrive/distortion. Hehehe. You have to listen and play to understand.

And yes, there are lower gain fuzzes and monster ridiculously gain-ed fuzzes.
