FUZZ! and whuzz and duzz

i love fuzz and fuzz is the best thing since slice bread!

classic fuzz
whacked oscillation fuzz
fat fuzz
saturated fuzz
noise fuzz
smooth fuzz
fuzz fuzz fuzz

wooooohooooooooo

pathein, u and sliced bread! 8)

neways, i think if u do a search on the tgp forums, there have been pretty enlightening threads on the topic of FUZZ. be it germanium or silicon, or snapcracklepop fuzz.. all got.

anyway, do check out retroman's sybil, mjm london fuzz/ foxey fuzz aiyah. go check THEM out la. the london fuzz (Si) impresses me the most after the Blues Devil.. just to deviate, i think the BD when paired with a regular strat, into perhaps a DRRI, can nail SRV's tone abt 90%. damn sweet la imho.

back to fuzz, if ur thinking cream, hendrix that kinda sound, check out retroman's stuff, i heard the clip, sounds almost exactly like the all along the watchtower kinda tone.. up points to that..

then again, there's oso the much hyped behemoth.. :P

I love this.

how many different types of fuzz are there?

Last count was every other righteous boutique builder will have a fuzz. Its like sliced brea.

what is the axis fuzz and fuzz face? :?

axis fuzz is a modified fuzz face. www.google.com will even give you the schematics, pcb layout and parts list to build one.

which transistor is better, don't know sim lim tower has?
AC-128s, BC 108, 109s, BC-183Ls, or NKT-275s

fftech2.gif

The BCtype NPN silicons u can try Sims..but i doubt they have stock.

Any low HFE NPN will do nice for a Fuzz ....buy a bunch...cook your own !!

Bro bro... the circuit is pnp leh hur hur hur...

BC trannies i got before at simlim... and in metal cans some more.... but hor... hfe is like 500+++ hahahaha....

fizzle fizzle arrrgghhh.....

anyone interested in trading components.

have a bunch of resistors and capacitors, can trade with values that I do not have.

What I have

resistor:
100
200
300
330
1K
2K
3K
4.3k
5.1K
6.2K
7.5K

Capacitor:

Cool. Do you have any Orange Drop caps?? Preferably 716P types?

the list is what I have to trade, require other values :D

what resistors and cap do you have available to trade?

don't have Orange Drop caps 716P types

sorry, dont have SBE 716P Orange Drops
what resistors do you have?

require 100K, 18K, 33K
20uF Electrolytic

Why SBE 716P Orange Drops?
How it affect sound?

I'm still new at this...

I'm just being anal-retentive about the SBE 716P :)

I spy with my little eye....

A POWER AMP IC on the bottom left!!!

Leftovers from a hifi amp project?

I wish it was power amp, these are left over of robotic project long time ago.
Since I have the experience and components, perhaps try some small diy project like fuzz first.

but I have values of cap and resistor that does not match the required...

First pedal project?

Silicon fuzzface? Bad idea. You won't be happy with the result and waste a lot of time, keep it when you've more experience tweaking.

Worthy of first timers + Instant gratification

Jordan Bosstone. Crunchy Fuzzy and easy to build.

Take note of the 2nd transistor and its orientation. Very important.

was thinking changing that to the hendrix/mayer mod

can always replace the silicon with ac128s ebay have or NKT275

after much reading, I was quite drawn to this rare NKT275 NOS
that analogman has on its sun face
the sun face knob actually...

"...The Sun Dial is a control on the unit’s top that ultimately lets the user set the amount of voltage going to the transistors. This was primarily designed to stabilize the tone of the germanium transistors so the user can adjust the voltages based on the actual outdoor temperature. Since germanium transistors change tone depending on their temperature in use, the idea behind the Sun Dial was to allow the voltages to be decreased if playing in a hot outdoor summer environment, or be increased if playing in a bar in Canada for example in the middle of winter and the heater isn’t working! ..."
