First guitar

i dont think its more of object

they just dont want us to pick up too many hobbies and then get carried away and let our studies be affected

started off first with a $150 fina from davis
tried to play a C chord without knowing it wasnt in tune

then after a few months, bought a Esteve spanish classical to play for sch guitar ensamble
learnt most my fingering there

just before enlisting, got my parents to buy a starter pack from davis
squier deluxe strat (one of my sold items, very nice feel from the neck) with a 15cdr

3/5ths through NS i saved up for a yamaha aes620, been using it ever since

Gas?

Last christmas some friends bought me a behringer overdrive/distortion pedal
went downhill from there...

sorry but what is GAS?

i took bout 6 months of lessons at yamaha music schook..and practiced on my yamaha classical for bout a year.

then after much persuasion and getting good grades dad foot the bill for my epiphone explorer and fender G-DEC that i've had for 2 years now..weee

gotta love ur parents

cheers

GAS = Girls Are Sexy
no actually its Gear Acquistion Syndrome :)

Edit: I forgot to add that it's a disease that distracts you from what's more important -> practicing

First guitar: Brandless strat copy and 10 watt shitty amp, which was owned by my elder brother, he went to ns so took the chance to kope and learn some stuff after getting inspired by JerryC's Canon Rock. First guitar and amp, makes you think its the best in the world until you arrived at soft... GAS Attack omg...

Started out learning chords chords and more chords then went on to solos, played on that guitar for more than a year.

2nd Guitar: Epiphone Les Paul classic. Man you could just tell the difference btw a shitty strat copy and an epiphone lp. Sadly it broke after a few months, the incident almost killed me haha!

3rd Guitar: Ibanez PGM-3, got money from birthday , me and bro pooled our money to get a this one, had to sell off xbox too heh...

4th Guitar: Epiphone Zakk Wylde Custom Les Paul. Part trade of pgm + topup for it, cash saved long and hard for this...

1st guitar - alpha&omega acoustic. some china thing. high action but practised for 6months on that. decent sound for 200bucks then sold it.

2nd guitar - cort cj5x. korean made. really nice sound with fishman prefix plus. got it second hand. sold.

3rd guitar - squier strat. got keen in learning electric but havent really got down to anything because more focused on acoustic. sold for very cheap.

4th guitar - taylor 310ce. after selling my cort. been serving me really well.

5th guitar - edwards lp. latest one =D loving it.

mostly paid by parents. a bit of my savings. even until 5th guitar, mummy helped me a lot. haha.

started off clueless (well not really knew basic difference in tone between guitar thanks to my friend xD), parents paid for my first guitar, 2nd guitar and my amp paid by myself. GAS but no money to buy.

edit: haha gassing for PRS Dave Navarro sig model/PRS SC 245, alternatively a Schroeder doublecut would be nice =D

My first guitar actually belonged to my younger sis, who is 3 years younger than me. She took up a begginer guitar course in primary school, bought this mini classical gutiar. It was sort of left in the storeroom for about 3 years then i gained interest in guitar from my friends in JC. So i took it out to play.
After about a month, my mum bought me a yamaha CG101MS classical gutiar.

A year later, which was just 3 months ago, i bought an Ovation CSE24 acoustic electric.
Just last week my uncle gave me his 27 year old guitar. A Cimar by Ibanez acoustic he bought with $50 then. I think its worth $700+ now.
Now i am waiting for my Burny RLG 50JP to come from Japan. Should arrive mid of next month.

Inherited a cheap classical, learnt for about half a year then bought my first acoustic. Paid everything myself out of my savings. Parents did not support financially.

It was a 2nd hand Samick acoustic I bought from a friend.

My first electric, also my own money and savings.

my 1st acoustic was when i was sec 4 while doing O levels summore. a kapok at 45, it was ok la, but the strings felt 'sharp' (now i learn it's because it was sold with a 0.090 gauge). i kinda felt fed up coz i couldnt switch chords at all!

soon, one tuner disappeared. even the screw fell out. didnt bother to replace the tuners because it was only available as a set. it's now probably rotting in the wardrobe.

now i have a BC rich beast electric, didnt really buy it coz of the aesthetics, but because i wanted a guitar to play and my savings could afford a second hand. hopefully, i can get part time so i can have an electric that's more "me".

interesting thread!
let me share mine..
bought a Silvertone starter package at 200 dollars from Davis in 2005..
came with a samick amp which i still like to use today.. sounds great with my pedals!
my parents simply looked at me when i came home with the guitar, then my dad passed me cash..
didnt plan that lol..
half a year later i secretly bought a zoom g2.1u.. currently my tuner though..
same thing, dad saw it and passed me a hundred bucks..
then saved up again this year to buy my current epiphone faded g-400..
parents supplied a lil cash, which i didnt use..
gas attack, saved up and bought two pedals, a metal muff and a sonic glory..
then recently used my hari raya money + savings to buy my randall rg100sc.. 2nd hand here on soft!
too bad though, my pedals dont sound so great on it compared to on my 10 watter..
but hell, the onboard distortion is a KILLER!

Godspeed64: Your dad must really love alot man. My dad just goes "waste money again. Everytime say no money but got money to buy guitar thing la. Next time i don't give you pocket money." poor me. Lol.

omg. Now cash converters sell electric guitars/basses for like 250 each? And they're pretty wrecked. Chips, stickers and stuff...
