First guitar

ur dad prolly thinks..

"great..now my dumbass son spent all his money on his stupid guitar stuff..he wont have money to eat and thats gonna make me look bad."

Nice one Deathism. My dad would probably look worse cause dad's quite big and i'm quite small. Ok maybe very small... He used to ask me to eat more when i was younger cause he didn't want people to think that he eats all my food and starves me. Lol.

my parents have no reaction. i just said ''ma, i want buy guitar'' she say buy la.
but when i said i want borrow money, then the questions come. hahah.

and there i go buying a TGM lespaul.didnt know how to choose so i bought coz it looks nice. LOL. 350 with amp. donoe cheap anot.

now GAS coming for a distortion pedal. woooooo.

I guess i'm the lucky one here. Started off with a J&D classical my school bought for me for $136. Actually it sounds nice, although its made of some plywood. That was at 13. At 14 in march i started learning acostic guitar. Used my classical to practice then in church i used an Applause AE247. Then i got really interested in gear, thx to SOFT and started GAS-ing for my current electric. Finally, i managed to persuade my dad to get me 1 and in december i got my Ibanez RGTCR2, a Line 6 PodXT Live and a Laney HCM30R, a simple but effective setup that's been serving me the past year.

actually, what i asked in the first post was if you got your guitar clueless or you had an idea how to play a song/tune on it somehow. But i don't mind hearing/reading what your first guitars were anyway.
Ps: When i wanted to get my guitar i told myself "i only want 1 guitar. Enough already. No need so many. Just play a few songs very good already" wonder what happened...

I bought my first guitar with my first NS allowance lol. By then I had already known how to play a few chords / songs after meddling around with other people's guitar haha. Still looking to get an Electric though, been eyeing a few guitars but -sigh-, no sudden 'urge' to rush out and buy :P

i have 2 cheap electric guitars

when both strings rust. pay about $11 for 2 sets.

im starting to feel the pain for my wallet. hoho.

imagine if i had 5 guitars. no need eat at school already. use money buy strings then cut off the extra parts at headstock. eat the strings.

1st guitar was a broken thrown away Yamaha classical which someone had thrown away and was retrievd by fellow softie aquanaut. He gave itto me, I fixed it and used it or a while.

Could play so so having learnt from all the Mat Rocks in Tanglin Halt area.

when i first started, i played an acoustic guitar which i got from as a gift from my aunt. didnt reallie learn much, just simple chords. that was like 5-6 years ago.

then i learnt the bass thinking that its easier. i started learning modes, scales and stuff but never apply wht i learnt to bass playing, but later on i found them useful in guitar playing.

then i joined my sch classical guitar club and acquired like 4 classical guitars, each with different purpose. one is for concert, it is my esteve; one is a spanish guit, alambra; one prac at home, one prac in sch. i played finger-style. that was like 3-4 years ago.

somewhere in between, i borrowed my cousin's used esp ltd guitar, think is the m50, and never returned him ever since. played the elec guit using finger-style till my finger bled once. then start to learn playing it using the pick. gave up playing cos having to switch from finger-style to pick is like having to learn everything from scratch. so i went back to classical playing.

then i enlisted into ns and stopped playing for like 1.5 yrs. now that i m going to ord, i m looking to buy an elec guit, amp and some pedals to start some serious playing.

anyone got anything to recommend? or some encouragement to give?

My First Guitar

It was sometime in 1991/92 when I first picked up a guitar.. It was way older than me and was lying around the house for as long as I could remember. A small beat up acoustic guitar.. 'Fornica' was the brand.. I didn't realise then how naughty that brand name sounded.. Anyway, having only 2 strings on (E and A) I learnt how to play the melody of Tears in Heaven with those 2 strings.. hahaha.. and that was the end of all my pocket money for the rest of my life...

My eldest sis' then boyfriend was probably trying to impress the family when he bought a set of classical strings to hook up on this Fornica baby... and along with that threw me the tabs to More Than Words... (Which up to this day I still can't play the whole song. hahahaha) About 6 months after I meddled with it... I sold it to a friend for 50 bucks to save up to get my first electric and amp... Black Peavey Predator and Rage 158. All for $350 bucks when Swee Lee was still at the Old Plaza Sing with the Yaohan and all and Old Man George was making every young kid's jaw drop everytime he picked up the axe to sell... heh heh.. later on in life, 'Blackie' was lent to a friend and never came back.. (Fong if you're reading this, give me back the guitar you wanker...) The amp blew up on me as I learnt how to play Majulah Singapura.. heh heh...

Oh well.. oh where oh where can all of them be... it'd be nice just to have the 2 firsts in my guitar playing life...

damn i wanted to get a guitar in sec2 but my mum didnt allow me and i wasted two years of my life before i finally decided to go ahead with it.
havenft looked back since.

My 1st guitar was a yamaha classical guitar CG-100A. Learned to pick up some skills. Then, after abt a mth, a friend bought a semi-acoustic. I tried it and found out it was much better. So, i put my guitar on auction and after a few wks, i sold it to some1.

Later, i bought a semi-acoustic. It sounds great.

First guitar was a Yamaha C-70 classical guitar. Parents paid for it.
It has alot of knocks and scratches now since i didn't really cherish it. A small piece of wood even came off from the joints in a occasion where i drop the guitar onto the floor :P thinking of upgrading to something better now though.

my first was a JnD les paul copy.had my cousin to pay it tho.i already knew how to play stairway to heaven by the time my guitar came by.
