Sure there are extended non-smoking ereas.
If ppl smoke in an area as previously, ppl walk past and kena second hand smoke.

After jan 1, smokers can spread second hand smoke to more ppl as they walk and smoke as they cant smoke in front of buildings entrances/exits etc...haha even takashimaya outside the corridor cannot smoke also. so walk here walk there find spot lor haha sometimes i walk purposely one, so no one can say eh u cant smoke here, but neber " eh u cant smoke and walk around'. right? haha

at city hall MRT the glass doors outside which corresponds to the mrt lift. there's a no smoking sign where smokers tend to stand in the shelter and smoke. but shld be ok if u stand 5 metres from lift, 5 metres from glass door entrance/exit which is somewhere near middle haha.

haha YESS !!! I hate second hand smoke at the coffee shops and busstops , thank god its finally banned ! I think the fines imposed should be much heavier though and more officers to enforce the new regulations .

Cig's tax and all.

they are only banning smoking in most public places where there might be a lot of non-smokers or where smoke might get trapped and possibly fog up the place. 5 meters from entrances because smoke can drift into the building where it's not a smoking area.

the reason why cig tax is high is solely because the government is trying to discourage smokers from buying cigarettes, but if that's not possible at least they get more revenue out of it.

Revenue from tobacco tax is small.

Transportation-related taxes and GST are the new main income. Price hikes on bus and MRT is not without reason. Both smokers and non -smokers drive. Take taxi also kena ERP. And everyone, young or old, pays GST.

No, smoke from vehicle exhaust is not worse than smoking. It's the other way round. There are many common compounds in both kinds of smoke that are cancer causing, but at least 7 kinds are only found in tobacco smoke that are not found in exhaust - and these are all cancer causing.

Singapore vehicles are not that bad compared to other countries in producing exhaust.

You should go visit those countries where you see black fumes from exhausts every few junctions.

Anyway, good time to go into Tobacco business elsewhere (manufacturing, not distribution). In the Emirates, prices will continue to rise until research reveals a decline of sales. Luckily it hasn't been enforced yet. I was there last week and you could get a pack for even 5 dirhams.

i crossed the road to bras basah while smoking then i just remembered tat cant smoke in the building so i stood at the traffic light to finish the few puffs... kena stare by some people... and they cover their mouth (they are bein sarcastic)...

so now wat? i cant smoke at traffic light ah?
