extended non smoking areas

Ok we're a few steps behind but a few steps ahead. So does that mean we're not as bad as we think?

wahhhhh piang - all this smoking discussion is making me wanna go downstairs for a cigge or two

i nvr had any probs smoking wen i was melbourne. only cant smoke in apartment n clubs.

talking abt yellow box, i saw one yesterday... the building opposite NLB... i see 2 smart dress guys smoking there... lol funny sia...

ok i'm a smoker and smoking is bad... but i hope anti smokers in tis forum or the world can understand us. its not tat we smoke for fun or to kill u. i rather smoke than take drugs.
and pls dun kip on wishing for smoke free country... its all abt give n take and understanding one another la... both for smokers n non smokers.

and to kids... dun smoke. it will give u cancer

I'm an anti-smoker for the sake that it really kills. My dad would have passed on if he arrived at the hospital 20 minutes late about 4 years back for a artery blockage. Do air-pump operation to clear the blockage.

IMO, I know how difficult is it to quit smoking, my dad IS still smoking at his usual rate since 4 years back, not afraid of a relapse. Its just like telling a gamer NOT to play games, like myself. Lol.

So yea, don't smoke if you have a choice.

My dad passed on cos of heart failure. His heart has been deteriorating for some time, no doubt cos of smoking, unnecessary stress and lack of exercise. But I think the smoking was the main cause.

However, there's a difference between anti-smoking and anti-smoker.

I agree with Boon. Smokers are not out to kill or be killed. As much as I don't like some of the comments by the smokers, I also don't like some of the comments by non-smokers.

You can hate the habit, but don't hate the person.

My bad then, I'm refering to smoking, not the person. How the heck can I hate my friends and especially my own FATHER just because they smoke?

Anyways, my father had that is purely due to smoking, he carry heavy rice sacks at work on weekdays and he never(or hardly) fall sick.

Whatever it is, Plsss....
Don't ever2 blame the player....
Blame the game yah....keke:mrgreen:

Scuse me guys...Gotta go 4 another stick...Sigh!

When I see a smoker, I laugh at their wrinkled lips and receding gums. Their wretched stench a reminder of their woeful failure at self discipline. The glowing stick in their pathetic yellow stained fingers a beacon of their ignorance. They are nothing but weak minded fools, slaves to some dried up leaves.

Ja bruv,i totally agree with you on this bit.We all have to learn how to compromise, not all smokers fit the stereotype that everyone perceives them to be,its just like having tattoos, piercings, keeping a pet rabbit or watching Hannah Montana.I'll seriously laugh if there's a flood of yellow boxes everywhere soon, its like going to an army camp everyday!

Its not right to say that. Smokers are fools? Its their own choice, respect that dude. I was a smoker too. Quit because my ex didn't like it:p. My choice. So don't call people names just because they do something you don't like. There might be things about you that many people don't like about you too. For e.g your name calling habit

I wasn't name calling, I was just telling it like it is. If you are addicted to nicotine your mind is weak. If you are smoking you are engaging in a foolish activity.

And i don't respect no fools.....i pity them.

If you can give some intelligent reasons to smoke I'd love to hear them.....really.

I smoked for 17 years and I can't think of any. Now I've quit I enjoy feeling smug and superior to smokers at every opportunity. I love to see them ostracised as the social pariahs they are.

...sometimes i walk purposely one, so no one can say eh u cant smoke here, but neber " eh u cant smoke and walk around'. right? haha

Heard of something called "being considerate"?

Anyway, i noticed that smoking makes most people's teeth yellow. Makes your complexion bad. Makes your eyes kinda greyish and teary. Makes your fingernails yellow. Makes your breath stink. Makes you smell really really bad.

Mints and perfume don't help cause the smell still lingers there.

My grandpa died from pneumonia. He was also a smoker but quit 15 years before his death after he had a stoke. But by then, enough damage was done to kill him.

a lot of comments here are reli goin against the smokers...
yes i agreed to some of tat... they are just facts.
but
i totally disagree tat smokers smell bad,bad breath... coz i dun,and i smoke damn heavily.

but hey! smokers are still human... and if they smoke, dun hate them or comment on their smell, hygiene etc... advise them!!!
i got tons of ppl advising me to quit for the pass 15yrs but i still cant and those ppl are still my frds/families

once again, its abt give and take la...

but kids... dun start smoking coz u think it is cool... u r just wasting ur fcuking money... go back to sch and study hard and be doctor...and save the smokers

im not against smokers, im against smokers who are inconsiderate. eg smoking at the corridor IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE DOOR, just cos they dont want their kids to smell the smoke. (doesnt mean you should let your neighbours suffer right?)

i have lots of friends who smoke. i accept them as they are. i respect them as well because everytime that im tempted to try smoking, they always refuse to let me try, saying that its something that they have always regretted doing and they dont want me to walk the same path as them, and that they have been trying to kick the habit, but its just dam hard to do that. happy to say though, that one of my better friends in camp have managed to kick his smoking habit haha.

Smoking of course impairs your sense of taste and smell. The first thing you will notice if you quit is how bad other smokers smell.

haha, i dont disrespect smokers. rather, i disrespect people who dont respect others.

like the post i made last night, it is true that its unavoidable for people to smell/inhale 2nd hand smoke, but the tone of the poster, the "if they die cos of me then too bad lah!" kind of attitude just puts me off.

this type of people just doesnt deserve my respect.

most if not all my friends that smokes are like that. and im very lucky most of the smokers i know (not necessarily friends), are considerate towards non-smokers.
