Hi guys!Need opinions on where would you advice me to go set up my fender strat?

Set-up as in, Changing my strings to 10's , adjusting truss rod, springs etc, action re-adjustment(its straight from the factory)

Please no black-balling, but just kindly recommend the best place or person to do that..

Somewhere central would be great!

thanks in advance!

Cheers! :D

Please leave out Guitar Workshop. See that S$5.5k guitar headstock in my display pic? Now imagine having a "few" dents here and there which they claim they did not do and having no evidence to counter them. Damn my blood boils so bad. I have a feeling if I take a look at their buffing machine and place the spool (metal rod which the cotton wheel is attached on) to the dent the fit will be a guaranteed exact same size.

But I must say they have good attitude. Must have been the guilt from charging me $100 for applying a clearcoat (quote: "Why wouldn't our special lacquer stick to the old finish?") which I can use my fingernails to scratch off.

Ended up paying $100 for creating trouble for myself.

I do a better job repairing my own guitar than them. What crap 10+ years experience my foot.

Some other strange things I've noticed. On a separate occasion I went while looking for a dehumidifier I told them it was for my new guitar which was quite expensive. They were interested in my guitar so i told them the price and they were like "that's only $5.5k we have handled vintage strats of $15k and above"

Now on my occasion of sending my guitar to them they seemed so.. deprived of touching a prs guitar. Like they have never held a guitar of such quality before. This made me wonder abt how much experience they have with expensive guitars anyway. Sigh I should have trusted my gut feeling.

Please take everything I say with a pinch of salt as others MAY have better experience with them. Which I doubt so *sniggers* reading through some of my private messages due to one specific thread in the past. "dodgy shop same level as swee lee bb"

*Flame off*

And oh snuffleupagus before you send your guitar anywhere please learn from my mistake and take PICTURES of your guitar juz prior to sending for wadever reason you need to. It's a guarantee against any dodgy things happening.

Btw, I recommend Malcolm for the set up. He helped me pretty much during my PRS ordeal and it wasn't even because he could charge me for his advice. It was because he saw a person in need and helped out of being good hearted. His services may be more expensive than most but looking at value I'd say he is underpaid for the quality of work he does.

[Edit] Sorry missed out the part saying no black balling but it was through this experience which i got a realli great impression of malcolm hence it's still of relevance i hope 8)

dooo keep in mind to tell the tech to put a shim at the neck joint if theres too much relief n if u want low fast action...

Id reccomend both beez and malcolm.

Ive sent my guitars to both guys. So i can vouch for them. Beez is of course cheaper. Anything to do with electronics eg. pups, wiring, pots ill send it down to him.

For things to do with the guitar itself, malcolm is second to none. He's the only guy ull see who uses a strobe tuner to do your intonation. He checks and douuble checks using luthier's tools leaving nothing to chance.

Conclusion: Youre playing for fun and need it almost there at a reasonable cost send it to beez. You're serious about guitars and want everything done perfectly? Malcolm is the only guy.

Don't misunderstand, the almost there im talking about is a very gd job already compared to others in the area.

yup KC's good.

and u can watch beez do on the spot for you too.

i've not tried malcolm. one day i should. hehe

Beez is a nice fellow, truely a nice chap. Honest man too.

Though... sometimes... he can be quite careless when handling stuff. hehehe...

KC from guitar connection did setup my guit.

I would difenetly say he did an excellent job.
plus he does it fast too. and the price is reasonable too.

Electronics, I'd definitely go to beez. Tho i usually do my own wiring.
Setup, I'd definitely go to malcolm.

Will be sending another guitar to malcolm soon :D
