somehow i think heartrock is being under appreactiated. i mean sure its neat if u get paid to play at gigs and all but dont forget, our local music scene is still mhmm, kinda small, do correct me if im wrong. and honestly speakin, my band wld love to play for a gig even if theres no pay or whatsoever because ultimately, we're up there on stage for the music.

theres always the experience gained when a band plays a gig. i even think that its even better than money. i dont mind playing with my amateurish band in a free gig without being paid. theres always the exposure which adds to gigging experience. well, if that doesnt convince you, why not seeing other bands history and see how they started out. i bet that they started out small from the beggining.
if that doesnt convince as well, ask anybody you know who has been in a band and gigged. they'll be sure to tell you that they'd take every opportunity for gigging, even if it was for FREE. and why?? thats the passion they have to be recognized in the local music scene, and they would do ANYTHING for that.
sure theres the paying for jam sessions, warm ups, accesorries and all the other stuff you mentioned but really...who cares..you want to be noticed right?? then just do it lah.
music isnt made of money anyway. its made from the passion.

i don't know if I'm right to say this, but even if HeartRock break even or earns some petty cash from organising certain gigs. I believe that money will somehow has to be saved for rainy days for future gigs in case there are some that require more funds than usual.
and true_voice, i suggest before you launch a "boycott" , do watch the news on TV. usually the 1st person who initiates a riot of some sort has that very basic thing : SUPPORT.
now you just kena the "you and what army and what valid proof?"-question-syndrome from everyone else who disagrees with you.

up to the bands lah. if everyone has the same mentality and wants to be paid at each and every single gig, then all this wouldn't be possible. and i doubt that each and every one of the bands does gigs as their cup of tea. and even though there's free crackers or water or whatsoever, well, these stuffs are still bought with money right! at least that's another way to thank the bands lah, and perhaps welfare.

If all you want is to get paid, be 'popular' and not give two hoots about what other people are going through to get you on that stage, then I'm sorry.

Heartrocksingapore, for as long as we've been playing gigs for Anthony, he has been one of the keenest supporters of the ailing local "scene". i believe bands this time receive more recognition from the general public now as compared to the situation 5 years ago. Nowadays gigs pop up almost every week and its not only one but rather 2 or 3 happening at the same time.
Bands have a choice whether or not to participate in an unpaid gig. Many HAVE to start from somewhere mah...if you think that it's not worth it, nobody's forcing you to play lah.

Although True Voice might have made certain sensible points with regards to whether bands should be paid or not but the way in which he defended his stand really showed his lack of maturity.
Dude , you don't go around cursing and swearing at people even if everyone disagrees with you. I mean , so what if people tell you to suck their ding dong just because he's totally against your views? Does that give you a perfect excuse to retaliate by telling us to fornicate a spider?
If they all disagree with you just respect their opinions and to each of his own. Swearing profanities at everyone who disagrees with you indeed shows your sense of maturity.

IF you REALLY have the proof and wanna speak out AGAINST INJUSTICE - then why DONT YOU show up at the gathering soft & heartrock is putting up and bring forth your argument. I m sure if you are really honest, forthright and have the evidence we will lend you an open ear.
As for the f*** spider comment - sorry I have arachnophobia.... but just goes to show how SOME (not all but some) Man U fans can be I guess...

In conclusion - the recent NKF - Dorai affair only goes to show how even in "transparent" S'pore - things can be "opaque". I have had the misfortune to work with with unscrupulous agents and establishments in the past so accusations like these dont really surprise me..... as mentioned before - I'm neutral on this issue but fair is fair and I belive in being able to prove things - if not then theres no substance to yoor arguments...

Guess it's about time to give him a break, since he is not responding. Don't ask him for proofs anymore cos he will have none. NAC is laughing at the allegation cos they don't even fund enough to get things going. They still short me petrol, parking, and buying meals & drinks for volunteers.
