Following up with the huge success of our 10th year Anniversary of FM Pop Music School, Funkie Monkies is again in search for the new generation of hit makers, in conjunction with the big names in the Asian music scene, as well as to encourage everyone to “Write the Song in You”.

Funkie Monkies Publishing is always on the look out for passionate new potential hit songwriters amongst their training wing to get them industry ready, providing them with a platform to have their works published and performed by the industry’s leading artistes. In celebration of FM Pop Music School’s 10th year anniversary, Funkie Monkies held a “20 Hits in 10 Hours” song writing camp last year and received overwhelming response from the local music industry. Over 300 entries were received and 80 individuals were chosen to take part in the 10 hour camp, where 20 Hit songs were written, arranged, recorded and pitched to Asia big record labels. Songwriters from last year’s camp had already published songs to Andy Lau, Stefanie Sun, BE4 and various other Taiwanese and China artists. Funkie Monkies Publishing will be looking out for hit making gems not only from FM Pop Music School, but also from the public.

Opportunities for the Songwriters

The Songwriting Camp creates an opportunity for local musicians, songwriters and music arrangers to work together as a team to create original music content, while encouraging community building at the same time. With a time limit as well as working with composers of a different music background, provide an excellent environment for the musicians to step up their game, while stepping out of their comfort zone.

Furthermore, industry-ready songs written during the song camp will be pitched to the music industry together with Funkie Monkies’ longstanding partner Warner Chappell to established networks of recording artists and record labels. This motion is also supported by “Noise Movement”, National Arts Council, mm2 Entertainment, The Composers and Authors Society of Singapore (COMPASS) and *SCAPE. The winning team will win the chance of working with mm2 Entertainment on the upcoming China drama series.

Audience alignment, music consultation and public engagement

In this day and age of mp3s and music streaming services, where the album inlays stating the names of the production crew behind the hit songs are absent, the public is generally unaware of the existence and importance of the music makers. Unknown to the local music listeners, Singapore’s success in the Asian music industry is not limited to Stefanie Sun and JJ Lin. Singaporean musicians, songwriters and producers have always been a strong presence in Asian Mandarin Pop scene's top hits.

Besides in depth discussion of various topics on the current music industry, the Music conference will also provide an excellent opportunity for the industrial veterans to address the most pressing questions on the minds of the music lovers. Aspiring songwriters will win a chance for a 1-on-1 music consultation session with the mentors during the Music Conference.
