Customer Service in Guitar stores

Hmm.

Okay guys, I dunno about you all, but I have a bone to pick about that old man standing around in Guitar Workshop (bras basah)...

he's like the 'supervisor' over there, and I don't know why but he always seems to pick on me when I come into that store..

I can't even pick up a guitar without him piercing his eyes into the back of my neck..

he seems to have gotten into his head that I had spoilt a guitar over there (video evidence from the shop's surveillence camera proves otherwise) and well my conscience is clear, because I respect the folks over there at GW bras basah, but man.. I hate the bad attitude coming from that old man.

You guys have any bones to pick with any store personnel out there? Share it with us... hopefully in a civilised manner

Everyone in sweelee. You walk in there and go and stand by the pedal place, and the dude's stand 2 m away an look at you. It also takes AGES to get somone to come and help one pay...Ryan is good though now that he is backk!

Sweelee tried to cheat me once, about some pricing thing which luckily, i checked carefully prior to buying. But, maybe the guy typed it wrongly in the pc or smth. :axe:

No offense to anyone, but I think when it comes to shopping,Singaporeans are more meek, probably because most places have fixed rates....In india,a lot of the shopkeepers raise theprice by 5 tiems cos they expect u to bargain and both the shopkeeper and buyer haggle and fight for quite some time...i was never good at hagglnig, but my mom totally rocked at it :D - a shopkeeper once asked for 450rs for a jacket,my mom haggled for a half hour and bought 3 for 200
When i goto 'certain music shops' and look around, this is the convo that goes on:

Me:<browsing around>
Seller:yes?
Me:yes?
Seller:may i help you?
Me:No thats ok
Seller:<consults handbook for new selling tactic>

ofcourse it then goes on to:
Me: tries an expensive guitar for a half hour
Seller:so you wanna buy it?
Me:nope
seller:<throws away handbook>

Hmm.

It's not just looking, that old chinese guy will tell you to turn down the volume (even though you're the only customer trying out a guitar), or just keep nagging at you for touching ANYTHING. I hate that kind of rubbish.. I mean, "I'm a patron of this shop, if you want me to go and patronise another store and not give you business that's fine by me", y'know?

Yea, that is truly scary...they just stare at you while you're browsing through...although that didn't happen to me in a guitar shop...

oh man talking about SL, i went there many times and must wait for assistance. on the other hand, when i walked into G77 and luther, they came right away. cool man

OK.. I have my story...

From City Music..

NOrmally people dont associate bad customer service with them.

Basically I was on the lookout for a Semi Hollow guitar.. $550 bucks in my wallet.

I went to City Music the previous day to try the TonePort and the Hamer Echotone.

I went down the next day almost with my mind set on the Hamer. When I requested to try, Gary began to interrogate me. Ganged up with 2 others to come and say that suppossedly I try alot and never buy at all..

Which isnt true.. I have bought numerous pedals and brought many friends over to get ther stuff.

So.. I looked at them. Walked off.

Got the Epiphone DOT hanging in luthermusic.

to me i think that SL's customer service's bad man. i would prefer guitar connections. big companies are usually more "unfriendly".

for me, davis just doesn't cut it as having good customer service or even "customer service" per se. because i wear my sch uniform doesn't automatically classify me as being unable to make a purchase in the store. one poignant example would be the time i was trying a bass at their shop. the old uncle there stared at me, and made sarcastic comments like "nice right" etc, then proceeded to turn off the amp and wring the bass out of my hands. the absolute atrocity just stunned me. and i promptly left there never to come back again :x

BAsically... every single one of them is messed up in the past on way or another.

Except G77 and luthermusic and those around Parklane

MINUS city music.. check my post on the first page.

Everybody have their bad day, I will forget about them a day or two simply because I myself sometimes are irrated by customers too. Even if you thought you are being polite, it might not be the same thing to the others. Too, some people including me just get pissed off by the look of someone without any reason.
