Bass efx gear used by guitar players...?

Hmm.

I curious... has anyone tried using Bass efxs for guitar playing applications...? I was browsing through the Soft online store and I was wondering if for example what the outcome would be if I used the Boss Bass Chorus with my guitar, and after my OD pedals.

Anyone have experience with such guitar > bass efx combos?

hi..its me again... i did once use a zoom efx pdl for guitar. kinda normal la actually. but got more eq thinghy to set so i can get a decent sound out of it. try la.. nvr try nvr noe...

most bass effects = guitar effects with a big value input capacitor and slighly tweak for bass response.....thats it !! :D

so bass effects used with a guitar gives a much open sound with added bass response ....

Hmm.

Hi goose and wyldeboon, thanks for replying and actually what you both mentioned was my sentiments. I've read reviews of guitar chorus efx and people complaining they have not enough "warmth" and I was thinking.. why not use a bass chorus efx instead?

Of course I'm not just appyling this thought to chorus pedals.. what about wah pedals (perhaps producing not just this trebly sound coming out like some wahs available now, but rather a nice throaty wah sound?), and even drive pedals?

I have played a guitar through a bass amp (and yes.. I'm sure a Buddy Guy fan would point out that Buddy Guy used a Fender Bassman with his strat in his early days) and I was amazed by how well the guitar cleans up and "opens up".

Currently I'm using a bass EQ and it gives me that nice bottom end oomph.. so i was hoping if anyone could concur or share their experiences.

Warmth? You looking for warmth in chorus pedals? There are some choruses that would get more warm tones. You gotta look them up... some say the Boss CE-2 is warm.

I've tried the CE-2B, very nice for guitar... I wouldn't talk abut the tone here - you can go to Ebenex and try it out for yourself, quite a surprise. ;)

Hmm.

I used to own that Danelectro Cool Cat but it was darn heavy (imagine I already have 2 heavy-weights on my board as it is) and it ran on 18-V power, which is a rarity and onespot doesn't even have an 18V version.

If I'm not wrong Josh still has it and he's a happy camper.

That pedal was warm, but like many chorus pedals it has that slight volume boost which can't be eradicated. Anyone tried the Guyatone chorus?

diff folks diff strokes .....some dislike that excessive bass dei !!

I dig what you sayin there buddy ...i love those bassman amps too !!

Hmm.

Darn.. gotta start saving up to get a nice bass amp (the one which I tried my guitar thru was probably a Hartke *????* forgot already) and perhaps see if my pedalboard can still squeeze in an chorus pedal

right now the pedals have a breather between them so perhaps I can sardine-can those buggers :P

Ok.. anyone else have guitar > bass efx / amp experience??

Ooh nice clip ShredCow.. but I was looking at either a GnR kind of clean sound or perhaps a David Gilmour chorus tone with that BIG FAT bottom end.

Some modern bass amps have some compression clipping built in... and cannot be bypassed. Watch out for those.

Some have tweeters built in. Instant earbleed. Watch out for those.

Some have horrid mids and yucky trebles. Watch out for those.

I like bass preamps used on guitars. Sadowsky and Aguilar rocks. HUGE bottoms. Best for CHUG. search wikipedia for good ol chug.

IMHO, basic, no frills, classic type of bass amps works better for guitars.

i prefer the tone of my guitar when i play it with a bass amp. That's why i might consider selling my guitar amp for a bass amp..

It just happened to be on my mind when I wanted to do a demo!

My goodness, tight pants?!

I don't even look like I belong in a band!
