Yamaha Asian Beat heats..the aftermath...

crank up ur mic'ed guitar amp and lower the mic lvl.. that way, u balance the sound from behind u and towards the PA...

bah i'm most probably talking some nonsense as i've never gigged... -_-"

yup u can do that ...
it depends on the soundman...normally wat u hear on stage is not the same tone as the one projected by the PA system...

I thought the sound was relatively alright. My band could hear each other pretty well. The only problem I had was that the overall mix was freaking bassy. Too rock already, but that's how it's generally mixed in Singapore. I think most rock drummer would have enjoyed the drum set too. The toms damn huge la.

Damn, wasn't there at the announcement of the results. Anyone know if my band Mad Hatter went through? We played a Jamiroquai cover.

3+1

Well our band, 3+1, was the last one for the evening (9:50 pm slot and band number 69) and when we reached the venue 30 minutes early at 9:20pm they announced our band name. Seems like some other bands before us did not show up.

So we had absolutely no time to prepare... in a rush I tuned the bass and the guitar. They asked me to use the guitar amp already on stage, but since I wanted to use the Marshall overdrive, they let me use my own amp (Valvestate 2020).

And when we were about to start playing, they said no time for soundcheck, so please start your song. That was a bit of mess cause we needed to do the soundcheck to check our levels and more importantly get comfortable on stage.

Anyways, the guitar and bass tones sounded kickass (at least on stage) and the only issue for me was that I could not hear the keyboards (keyboards and guitar play twin leads in our song) so this was a big headache and I think we kinda lost time momentarily in places. But overall it was a decent show and the sound crew were very helpful in helping us set up.

Upon first check...

The House of Anonymous is a semi-finalist.

Will be checking a second time, though.

Thanks, mandric. Though there isn't any female vocalist in the tracks you hear, lol.

Anyway, the band is not playing an original that is on our myspace. In fact, we're approaching it completely differently for this competition :)

Although it must be added again... need to reconfirm tomorrow.

Yo all ...

the crew are quite helpful and there's not much problem for my band..
but yea .... overall mix, the guitar was rather soft ....

my friend, on the floor also confirms it ... so .. yea ... but it's not a VERY bad situation for mine ....

ps: my drummer says he can hear everything except that the guitar is a bit soft ( 2 monitors for the drums aye?)
