[WTA] Markbass LM II & Genz-Benz shuttle 6.0

now qns. is. a lot of folks say hartke cab sucks in TB at least. so far i kinda dig the harsh hartke aluminium cone for some serious metal sound. ;p

dun listen to TB hartke haters lol... :) trust your own ears... in my opinion, I think they are just in their own paper cone comfort zone. Leave them in their own time capsule, while we enjoy more accurate frequency reproduction with alum cones lol :)

I think you should not settle for a head you don't want, if davis don't have it in stock and you don't know when it will come, either wait out for it, or find another way to get your hands on it.... it's $1000+ you'll be spending, you should use that to get something you really want instead of something else simply because someone was out of stock ...

i am working on a budget. went to davies saw the markbass F1 SGD$1000 500 watts. i can afford it but than i am more incline to a LMII which is out of stock and they dunno when they are going to get it and i need a good head for recording soon really soon. but than there are nornal size head which is cheaper i am not going for hartke head cos all the studio got 'em. looking for something else.

The F1 is down to $1000? It was 1.3k the last i saw it. The Genz Benz is not available locally, Davis doesnt carry them anymore.

i went cab 'shopping'

davis only had massive markbass and ebs cabs which were way out of my budget

swee lee is the devil. and i hate laneys

that left me with city music. i tried the 210 TP and VX. XL out of stock. i way preferred the warmth of the VX. with a markbass head you need all the warmth you can get because it is a very clear sounding amp. the VLE helps, though a nice cab wouldn't hurt. but i got the TP because of money constraints. a look at my sig would explain it. anyway i hauled it to a gig the very next day and the light weight paid off immediately.

anyway speaking of the gig i did get a chance to use the markbass live. i hooked up the amp to my 2x10 TPs and the 1x15 combo, bypassing the power amp of the combo. despite a mere 150W going into each cab, i only needed to be at around 30% to blend into the mix, which was what i was going for. i didn't see the need to 'cut through' that much, especially since i was playing quavers most of the time. nevertheless there was plenty of room on my rig if i decided to.

which goes to show you that wattage and cab size matters shit. it's about tone and most importantly, EFFICIENCY

why? even more GAS for the F1 is it

i wouldnt mind having a shuttle 6.0 man. it would be a step up from my current rig

Haha, yupps! heh .. The GB is lighter than the MB F1, but its also much thicker. Gets a bit bulky for public transport. Gotta bring a seperate bag for it, whereas the F1 looks like it can fit in the accessory pocket of my gig bag! =) Size does matter.

that settles it than. i think the harke 2x10 cab is going to be the choice, issue i dunno how long i need to wait for a LMII locally or even buy it overseas, or 2nd hand from TBer/Ebay, etc.. dun wanna suffer another GITS!

problem now amp, i kinda miss rumbling the hse down. if i go a head and bought the 2x10. can i use my errr.. Zoom B2.1u or hartke VXL to drive it? or cannot be done? while i patiently wait for the head?

the prices for Hartke 2x10 XL and the 2x10 TP are very small. if u were me. what will u choose?

Get a Hartke 2.5XL? 210XL is without tweeter and goes up to (i think) 5Khz only. Also don't forget you're gonna be running at 8ohms, so you may not get as loud as you'd want in gigs.

ok, another noob question from me,

how does ohm affect the sound produce?
ohm is the resistance is it?
so more ohm less loud?

and after reading the thread, do most pple prefer to use non-hartke amp heads with hartke cab cause of the cab's frequency response?

haha, thanks=]=]

Might be bringing in the GB Shuttle sometime end Oct... along with one or two other brands of amps. Will keep you guys updated :)

i prefer the 2x10 without tweeter, and if the bass amp combo got a tweeter of sort i will switch it off ;p

cherns - end of oct. any idea what u bringing in (any small portable head) and retail price and can pre-order? ;p

I will always choose the XL over the TP. the TP is the cheaper produced model with lower quality specs than the XL or VX.

XL and VX are the hartke standard line. XL has alum cones where VX has paper cones. But both have higher quality specs than the TP.

Apart from the shuttle (which is still up in the air...)

I'm planning to bring in this little baby

if got money, the answer is Hy-Drive

if only it came in 2x10

my doubt about the hydrive is how they couple 2 different materials together, alum + paper, which has very different physical properties. will the break apart after much usage simply because they vibrate quite differently, I'm wondering will the coupling break after much heavy vibrations? :)

I'm sure it won't be a problem that Hartke has taken care of that, and it's just my paranoid. :)

thanks for the heads up XL it is than difference is like so little comapare to the TP. can that settles it.

cherns, the eden and ea looks damn sweet. can pm me the price availability (end oct) but i am looking at least 500-600 watts.

5stringwonder> The Thunderfunk is a really sweet amp which I'd love to get for myself... but I really don't know if I'm able to bring in the required quantity.

lordie> If more than 500-600w is what you're looking for, then you should seriously consider the Thunderfunk! I'll send a pm your way :)

cherns > the thunderfunk is nice but its not like portable enough... looking for sizes like LMII or shuttle, or the eden , etc..
