World AIDS day: a SOFT reflection

Fair enough. It's just you keep on using the phrase 'homo' and asking if they should get empathy....like you are trying to stir up some kind of gay hate. Your comments appear to be either flame baiting or just prejudice.

He wasn't the only one to use the word "homo" in this thread. Read his reference.

And he had already clarified what he had intended to say, which is also what Dir is implying: that homosexuals are often tagged by the stigma of AIDS, which is definitely not true. Unfortunately they are the ones who get the brunt of the blame.

Freddies great but I'm not so sure about this guy though...

he he... how about this one?

yes you quite right and I stand corrected. I'm just working through my monday morning cranky old bastard routine. By lunchtime I'll be charming, witty and highly attuned to the subtleties of chat room discourse.

of course they don't. homos with AIDS?

i'd say homos with HIV have more on their plate to worry about than getting empathy from others. I'd like to see more government effort at vanquishing general ignorance and subsidised medication but that's just a pipe dream.

Also I didn't realise 'homo' was a derogative term, whatever happened to faggot?

Didn't the AIDS and gay issue was brought up in parliament once before? That caused quite an uproar when one of our ministers gave a comment that implied negative link between the gay community and AIDS.

No man/woman is infailable, we all make mistakes. As long as the person realise his/her mistakes and don't repeat them again, they still deserve our sympathy. As for the gay/aids issue, is because homosexuality is still taboo in most societies, they are not accepted by most, they are the minority and so they get all sorts of accusations. At the end of the day, no one wants to get a terminal disease like AIDS.
