Why the local scene sucks...

amazing.

i know what u're tryin to bring across, him going to japan look for his own audience.

but, i still feel for any flower to blossom, the enviroment has to be right..
my question is, why cant we thrive here?

depends on what kind of flower we are lor. haa..haa.. are we the kind that requires greenroom protection or those that can survive in desert.

Think about it this way, can we do anything without the help of our parents, friends, government?

haha, i'll most probb be a thug or something... those can survive in desert, from what i know cactus only lo..not exactly pretty. haha
but really, we all needed help @ some point..

'local scene' is a lay term to describe the entertainment industry. music is a business. if musicians and people in supporting roles don't know how to make money, the industry is hopeless.

Support local talent

Hi musicians.

I and my band always support every band that perform every where..
in Singapore whenever we be there.

Never look down upon them, sometimes, some band suck but we meet them and give advised ,what is their weak point in individual level.

Basically we must be very understanding among each others.yet we are humble persons to everyone. Some of the band also had a big problem mean stage discipline, lack of music theory edit and applied sound balancing in order to blend with the band.

Yet we, improved them., And we are the band that making money overseas with import line up musicians. we still humble to everybody.

We always support u guys okay, in buying of cd we have no comment.

We are in the same boat, we know what's your feeling.
Just do what you believed don't stop, improve yourself in whatever you do.

That why we say my trade mark word.(Understanding Above All) maybe this is happen to some band they just think about their band only in supporting.

They think they are the best among overall band.. huuuh.. this is wrong.
we cannot have this kind of attitude remember. don't be arrogant.

If u see me, say hi Jack Khan, and if u need some advise about music pm me.. first come first serve..

Thank you

Right now it seems that the indie/experimental pretty boy thing is in, I think that's what type of band will succeed in Singapore. Just make sure you wear a fedora + cardigan cause it's super important to look individualistic.

no metal scene?well what about those in the underground?those cheered you on don't they?

I see the same faces at every gig. I always appreciate the support. But there is no way a metal band can survive on local support. This is not Sweden where metal is respected as an art.

^Don't you mean Norway? Maybe just Nordic countries in general. But I believe in a country with that many people, you will definitely find a dedicated fanbase. Although there are some countries where metal is very much part of popular music, like in Brazil and Indonesia. Heck, even Malaysia has very heavy rock and metal stations. I heard stuff like Tom Sawyer on a Malaysian radio station once in KL. I forgot what other songs it was playing, but it was all balls to the wall awesome rock/metal music.

I don't know any Norwegians, I've got a Swedish friend and a Finnish friend. I can only speak for the people who I know first hand.

i dun support any band, local or foreign by buying their CDs, if u catch my drift. my biggest support is to pay to see them live.

it's because of people like you who have this kind of thinking that's why local music scene is not rising. It's not just about the money problem. Musician from local scene should know that making music in sg can't really earn big bucks. But it's more of the satisfaction they get. They are doing so because that's their passion.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norway

"Population - 2009 estimate 4,848,474 (as of 8 December 2009)[2] (115th) - 2001 census 4,503,436 - Density 12.5/km2 (211th)
31/sq mi"

their population is less than ours. haha i went to check because i've heard somewhere before that population % is not the issue when it comes to metal fans in that area.

Norway has twelve and the half people in an area of 1km by 1km!! in contrast to our 6814 peeps in the same area

It is pleasurable to note that my thread is still thriving amidst the babble and the rumble of nonchalance that fills these forums. Alas, almost a year on, I have already resigned myself to the conclusion that the local scene here is of little merit. However we preach and mope about, however we parade ourselves with pride for this non-existent ‘Second Coming’, the dead air that resonates in our minds still stands true; the local scene is but a beast that will gradually – and inevitably – be put to sleep with the tranquilisers of our dysfunctioning interests and wayward well-intentions.

Without vision, without ideas, without persistence, there is only the intangible delusion of grandeur.

R.I.P.

like improve in which areas? we're better now though, but havnt took any videos of our more recent one. this one was in august, we just formed in march

Dude. Go to the open mic. Wrong section.

And for the record, if you're better now, you'd know that was a bad video and wouldn't have posted it in the first place. Stop fishing for compliments and go practice.

sry man. pretty new to soft. and btw the local scene would be thriving, if artists are more independant. many ppl think the only way to come up as an artist is to find a record label. and because singapore only has distributing companies, (i think. i read tt from a singapoeran website) ppl tend to blame the industry more. however, there are ways of coming up independantly, and if artists in singapoer start to do this, others would get influences and then our local music scene may be as awesome as it did in the 60s. there's a new free downloadable book called new rockstar philosophy. its really helpful, and gives alot of references to many artists from past and present. the ways are changing, and we cant always do what ppl used to do in the 70s or 60s and a record label, still only gives u "loans".

http://newrockstarphilosophy.com/ tts the link, its really helpful, and it motivated a number of ppl

I don't know if it was the mic from the video cam, but the vocals was bad and your mixing needs to be improved. It might just be the videocam mic. I like your song choices, but it seems that the vocalist is trying too hard to hit those high notes. I suggest not needing to follow the song 100%, ask him to sing in a way he's comfortable. Especially lovelovelove On Feel The Noize by you guys, pretty hard on the ears.

yea. which is why nowadays we improvise on our covers, coz our singer cant hit the high notes, and he used to have this idea he had a listeanble "trany voice" hahaha.. till he saw the videos and foudn out how bad it sounded. but what do u mean by "lovelovelove On Feel The Noize by you guys, pretty hard on the ears?" like its pretty hard to enjkoy the song with the singer shouting his ass off? haha
