why are they all just ignorant..

there's always jeffrey chung models for hire if u can afford it.
models? hire from where?

anyway the question should not be "why are they all just ignorant",

the question should be

"why am i hanging out with morons?"

so... why are you hanging out with morons?

i'd say that these genres (metalcore or whatever)..well they are just fads.
u know when disco music was the in thing for 70s or 80s. im young, not sure.
then there are pop or boybands in the 90s.

still there are music that people call 'timeless'.
they are like blues, rock, metal. seriously i know nuts about genres.

sure pop, boybands or other likewise genre do still exists.
but they are more...like say...updown demand.
while metal..blues...hey what more can i say?

i agree that we must have some respect for the roots . but still i find it stupid that people argue 'x' music is better than 'y' music, and that you are more superior because you listen to 'x' music

Being ignorant is ok. If the person like what he hears, he will find out more and learn.

For me, I dont think I will ever know everything. So, I just choose what I like to know more about.

I once had a little gathering and there's this lady who will insist that hers will always be better. If someone says, "The chicken rice from this store is not bad." She will say, "No lah, the store near my house is the best!"

The whole evening, I was like trying my best not to have any conversation. Just eat.

I dont know what is the purpose of this thread but hopefully, we all will be more open to all genre of music/sound.

* I am mixing a choir recording right now

agreed wif bro syed_zack, nowadays too many genre or wateva it is. but lesser respect n more 'nose-up-high-in-the-sky' attitude.
its ok to me coz i gave up as its like everywhere ard me.
can see the diff... 'they' dress up to their 'genre' and worship the guitarist or the band.

i was questioned a lot of times by 'them' in a few of my gigs. maybe because i dun dress like them.

below is a conversation i had once. a memorable 1...

'they': eh bro. u play wat band? wat instrument? wat concept?

me: guitars... my band is psy4. concept? rock ah

'they': wat rock? screamo? metalcore? math core?

me: *puzzled when hearing math core. i tot maths was only in skool* rock ah...but i like to mix2 here and there

'they': oh... like blink 182 la!!! experimental.

me: wat???!!!?!?!! eerrmmm... no la. like ratm, soad, karnivool bla bla

'they': blink 182 more power wat. can mosh and pong pong

me: eh... reli ah? tot the word was 'po-go'?

he then insist. i shut the fcuk up and drink my beer.

haiya..................

every generation throws a hero up the pop charts

the ppl you are talking about will say the same of the even newer generation when "the next big thing" comes about in future ....

That's stereotyping, not everyone is like that.
Also, mainly people are listening to their kind of music, and don't really know much, but I myself, prefer to listen to all those names over bands like a7x and such, but then again, good and best is only subjective.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!! it got me fcking laughing to see PONG PONG! AHAHAHAHHA!!!! OMG!

aiya, to me, nuthing beats the legends back in the old days.. yngwie malmsteen was heavily influenced by ritchie blackmore and hendrix, but he had his own style.. so time keeps pushing the legends backwards and backwards with new guitarists idolising guitarists that idolises the legends.. so it's like a chain IMO..

"without the old, there won't b he new" :)

I guess people change due to trends. Same how the music changes through every decade. Of course there will be people who will pay their respects to the legends and there's definitely those who pick up other genres.

I grew up listening to most radio and only later part of my teenage life listening to more alternative sounds. So my musical influences heavily leans towards melodic tunes influenced by mainstream pop. So I don't think anybody should blame anybody regarding what genre they should listen and which genre is better.

However, I am truly against the belief that bands are just meant to play what they love on stage. Yes you can play what you love. Yes there would be some who wouldn't like you and some who would. But your "big" fanbase deserves to grow bigger and through that is only how your music is heard and liked by others. What's the use of playing to a 10 person crowd and it's always the same people who comes and listens to you?

Big bands have labels who does the marketing for them because every sale the band makes, the record label takes an even bigger portion of it. They're different from the league of indie (which is independent for short) bands out ther no matter what genre who have to scrape and dig to grow.

And if you think that the metal scene needs more recognition, go do something about it. Start organising metal gigs, get a lot of people to come for it, re live the metal crowd and stay true to it. No use talking and complaining and hoping when nothing's been done. TAKE ACTION. That's what most people don't bother doing.

Anyway, I'm organising a series of tribute shows for the bands of the past. Hope to do a heavy metal one on one of the months.

Any suggestions on what bands should I tribute to? You can reply to my thread in the Gigs and Concerts section! :) Thanks!

i finally had enough...enough of kids in the 'scene' who totally have no respect for thier roots in music..i quote some examples ..
-'hey bro jimi hendrix is like really one of the most elctryfying guitarists ever man'
and ill be answed...'synester can kick his ass any day of the week' cmon man!before synestr there was dimebag, eddie van halen, ritchie blackmore, jimmy page, eric clapton an the blues etc..its alright for them to be ignorant but its worst when they listen to the legneds and think they are crap...
another source of frustration is true enough as entertainers true catering to the audienceis vital but hey as a musican you must be true and honest!performing what we love is so much more fullfilling.even if the crowds dunt dig it ul get the statisfaction imagine my frustration the other time when we were creating our originals..since my influence was the 80's type of metal like twisted sister, dio, maiden i politely suggested maybe the drums could be more tighter metal/hard rock type like be to all over the place like hardcoreetc.i mean no disrespect but our band had a concept of metal..but iwas simply told nonchalantly that iron maiden and the 80's are dead crowds dunt dig it...
my reply is..so?
im here to play what i like and to play my originals with full conviction that what im playing is what i truly like and love.if the crowds love its a bonus..im just sick and tired of all these ppl who just be in bands to get to big festivals, money, girls and all the attention..i beilive they have lost what it means to be a muscian..they arent havin fun anymore..
thing is i shouldnt be even givng mention to this topic as everyone have their own opinion but to criticise without a pinch of respect is just too much for me to stomach.i do believe that there are a collection of people, some bands out there though that are still being honest to goodness rockers and have respect for various genres of music.god bless thi people.cheers

Agree with you, Play what you like, don't care about what other people thing as long as you think your stuff is good enough keep on doing it..And playing in a band is about passion in the Genre that you like....i wonder what will the next trend be after Metal Core????

Let's just say, each to their tastes.

Also, if you argue on the basis of following your roots, I reckon that society would degenerate if that's the case. It is fine to appreciate one's roots, but love, take a move on when it is necessary. Contemporary music has its own benefits.

haha whats the big fuss why bother listening to them scence kids.. not all scene kids are like that... Its a pity u got mixed up with the "wannabe handful". Some scene kids can write good ass stuff.

On the bright side, its brining more ppl into music and metal! Slowly they will drift away from the scene.... So aint that good? haha, if it happens.

i don't think this is about wether the musicians are wannabe kids or old timers.the issue is about how open people are to music in general.many underground musicians i meet are rather narrow-minded about music genres.i've read and heard many people thrashing these 'core' genres but has it occur to u that these kids can see the 'beauty' of their music the same way we do about maiden and megadeth?who knows..there are big 'core' bands out there who deserves our respect even though we're not interested in their music, same as we have to respect great musicians of the past, regardless of wether they influence us or not.

It's mutual respect for genres. Of course some people have their own ideas on what their music should sound like. But if you don't agree with them, it's best that you guys don't work together. Interests are bound to clash. For example, I'm forming a band with melodeath influences. It isn't wise to get a drummer who listens to thrash or rock.

On the other hand, of course I do respect the likes of metalcore and hardcore although I don't like it. You can don't like it, but if you don't respect what others are doing, I don't think you're being fair and open.
