Why are bass amps hairy?

well i dunno why its for. but it works great when a a hot chick come over the house and sit on top of the amp and i played it loud so it vibrate and tickles. she is going to have a lotsa fun.. for sure.

Ah - now that's more like it :) - I was searching the Web like mad trying to find some discussion on this because I became obsessed with trying to find out. Seems like the consensus from bassists is that there's no real technical reason to it - it comes down to looks, perceived durability and personal preferences.

Don't worry - I knew you weren't trying to be an ass hence all the smileys. :) this is a lighthearted thread about something inconsequential after all. I like useless trivia.

Cheers

THE answer to why are bass amps hairy

are you ready for this?

The texture prevents the beer on the amp from 'dancing' around and falling down!
Prost!

:-D

indian amps??

i heard that china made amps are damn hairy. you should get MIJ amps, should be quite smooth

anyway, i know that markbass makes attachment tweeters. the hairy-ness makes it attachable to the cab using velcro.

My very first amp 4 years back was hairy haha
