where to go for mods/setups

Take the pickup out, look underneath.

There will be a model number.

Go to the Dimarzio website and look up the Evolution bridge model number.

If its a match - okay. Its probably used. 90 bucks.

If its not a match or there's no number - all the best.
 
It's totally rip off, if it's a used pickup. And yes $110 is a rip off for a simple setup. What your friend should do was, he should demand for the pickup packages and probably a receipt, or at least your fren should buy himself 1st than ask for only installation.

For now you got to check it out weather it's a true Vai's dimarzio model. Report to us here and make known to all if GC really cheats.

There should be a DP 158 or DP 159 (i cant remember which is the bridge number) imprinted under the pick up. If it's the newer ones, there should be Dimarzio Made in USA imprinted under (They should be a sticker with DP 158 or DP159) if it is the real Evolutions.

could be breeds , evo's , evo 2 , steve special , paf pros too man . since vai used them.

I think changing pick ups can be done in a lot of places. Personally, i like beez, he does it fast and in front of you.

Thats true. kinda slip my mind. in this case.. look for the Dimazio pickup. Made in USA being imprinted under the pickup.

You wouldn't say this if you knew how much I paid for a SPECIAL order DiMarzio PAF Joe from the US... I'd actually say $90 is about right, if the source was correct. Swee Lee prices are ridiculously inflated. Locally, this would be ok if it was 2nd hand, I guess...

I don't wanna comment anymore with Guitar Connection's service but I will never go back there for guitar setup... I have a very high regards to Singapore's customer service being a newbie in your country but... I dunno man. I would still recommend their place for 2nd hand pedals and guitars but for service, it will be in your own preference and freewill.

so was the pickups genuine or phoney?
