anw not e first time the police had caught us playing soccer at tat court...
all diff officer let us play only if e court is empty

you guys can't lose to foreigners on basketball!
what are you guys, losers?

I hope the threadstarter did not create this thread to garner any empathy, or any form of support. Otherwise he'd be sorely disappointed.

I'll not post in this thread again, there are better ways to spend SOFT's bandwidth.

no matter how many times i read and re-read the TS's first post,
I still can't see why those poor dudes were fined $300.

And there's of course every sensible reason to not play street soccer at a basketball court, just as there is a very sensible reason of not playing basketball on a street soccer court (duh, don't need to ask why)

And pushing over other people's bikes is just a very childish and immature thing to do, not to mention damage of other people's property.

And no I never knew you could be fined for being a foreigner.

Maybe one of them were a bit harsh when they threw your ball to one side, but it is after all a basketball court and since the officers already (and i feel they are already being very nice) say you can only play soccer on it if it is EMPTY I don't see why you think you have a case for your group.

Dude, do you realize the fact that you damaged motorcycles on purpose, and then push the blame to others is a crime. You are still smart enough to post it on a public forum. You really think about requesting for the deletion of this thread. It's for your own good.

TS's friend pushed their motorbikes, which were most probably next/near to the gang/parked in the court thus they got fined for illegal parking. Isn't that a reasonable explaination?

Well, the TS isn't really in the wrong. As the officers said, can play soccer when the court's empty, so seeing that the "gang" was resting by corner they took it as they could play first.
What's so wrong about that? It's not like the basketball dudes were trying to perform a layup or smth and were really interrupted by these two ball-kicking dudes.

I don't think the race/foreign thing has anything to do with the fines. If they had really parked their bike at a spot the officers deemed illegal, Good Game.

Pushing the bike with the intention of damaging it is a non-seizable offence known as mischief.

In such cases, the police cannot arrest the culprit, but the victim can file for a report, a summon can be made and the culprit can be charged in court, fined or jailed.

FYI :)

But still, it's parked at a spot where it can be fined, so it'll probably wont take the case that it got pushed? It's like "huo gai". Your bike kena push but who ask you park your bike in that spot, still summon you.

Maybe cos the bike owner isn't aware of his rights to pursue the matter?

Parking is an offence on his part, and he got punished for it. That is without question (do note though that we still cannot conclusively say that that IS what he is fined for).

That doesn't mean that the pushing of the bike cannot go unpunished. If the victim choose to pursue the matter, he can do so, and the offender can face much stiffer penalties.

Unfortunately enough, law enforcement of Singapore is not without it's human flaws eg biasness, discrimination, and irresponsibility.

Letting the bike owner fill up a simple non-seizable form can be "hassle" for policemen who are about to go for lunch, end their shift, or just plain bored of attending to cases of "my bike kena push".

Ok... maybe it was quite unfair. But police only pursue the matter if the victim wants to charge the TS's friend.(Eg, the schoolgirl staircase beatdown case)

Well, the threadstarter's friend should count himself lucky afterall.

More like those bike guys are UNLUCKY...

I'm more pissed off at the officers, though. They didn't even bother to suggest that avenue when they should be having that form in their file whenever they are on duty. :?
