whats up with people these days??

OMG. Why did the TS has to retaliate in the first place? If he didn't retaliate, it will save them a lot of trouble if the foreigners sue them for damaged property or something.

I'd say, the TS's friend had better watch his back. Those guys might retaliate.

But I must strongly agree with some of the posts here. Its a basketball court, basketball players have more of a right to use it, isn't it? Personally, as a badminton player, I get quite unhappy when the resident Sepak Takraw group comes to the court and occupies it, so that badminton players cannot use the badminton court.

So, same principle. Its a basketball court, basketball players should be given priority. Furthermore, street soccer can be played at a lot of places, whereas basketball has requirements that only a basketball court can provide. And personally I really do not understand the $300 fine. If you ask me, we're lacking a lot of information here.

I might be a bit too blunt but I really stand by what I am saying. And of course, I'm not biased against either sport, since I do play a bit of both and really appreciate it when we have priority to play basketball at a basketball court.

this is so super damn strange. did u guys bribe the police or are they yr friends? how you gyus managed to carry on playing soccer on bball court? well i play soccer too, and if plp come soccer court and bounce their basketball, sure ill kp em. and lol how you guys so pro manage to make em kena $300 bucks.. lol.. congrats on yr victory, and sorry to the bball players who kena the fine for nothing.. lol

I thought the badminton court is a multi-purpose court?

i think the crux of the matter is that shadowsdiamond is offended by the fact that the basketball players made a gentleman's agreement with the soccer players but ignored it a short period of time later. i can understand his sense of indignation/outrage/injustice.

however, let's take a step back and look at the facts:

1) basketball player throws their ball out despite prior agreement to share the court. ( childish, dishonourable behaviour)

2) shadowsdiamond's friend pushes basketball players' motorbikes over and damages them. (childish and CRIMINAL behaviour)

the response was disproportionate to the provocation, and also cancelled out the "gentleman" part of the afore-mentioned gentleman's agreement.

imho, it would have been wiser to remind the basketball players of the earlier agreement, and behave in a gracious manner. at least you'll be able to look yourself in the mirror afterwards and know that you're a better person than the basketball players (hence, "what's up with people these days??")

chances are the basketball players would've been shamed into reacting politely, and both groups could've moved on positively, rather than a sort of ticking time bomb situation around the basketball court now.

as far as the cops go...well, i never expect figures of official authority to behave logically. ;)

hope shadowsdiamond takes away some positive lessons from the incident (other than "we won. yay, we rock!! they suck!!"

i'd say both are wrong. but TS friend is more wrong.

definitely, as said, basketball players have all the right to use the court above any other sports. other sports use can, but when basketballers come, the court must be given to the basketballers.

in this story:
basketballers wrong to go take back their words and spoil the deal. and to throw the ball out of the cage.

TS friend is wrong to push the bikes down no matter illegal parking or not. thats the police/traffic police's matter.

TS is wrong to post such a idontknowwhattosay thread in SOFT.

whatever the outcome, if you're able to sleep peacefully at night, then kudos to you.

but if you can't, then don't.

Dude, actually I have to ask...

What's up with you and your friends instead?

The ones requiring reflection aren't the basketball players but you and your friends. No offense. But it's the truth.

What might've really happened!!!

After reading so much, I think this is what happened:
TS and his friends were playing at a basketball court which -wasn't- empty (obviously cause the bballers were sitting by it? inside it?) thats how the soccer ball hit them right?

then a basketballer got hit by a s-l-o-w rolling ball.
He then grabbed it and threw it out of the court. (I think who should get the court part can be explained above?)The bballers were TIRED!!! so they were probably too tired get the ball dude!!! they WERE resting right?! Okay lah, they made a deal, but there seems to be a new rule, something like everything must be in black and white to be taken seriously?

Then TS's friend was like, "OH MY GOD!!! HE THROW OUR BALL OUT!!! WAH!!! GOT SCRATCHES ALREADY!!! SHIT!!! BETTER SCRATCH THEIR BIKES CAUSE I CANNOT JUST TAKE THEIR BASKETBALL AND THROW IT OUT!!!" so he pushes one bike and the rest fell like dominos.

Yeah! They scratch our ball we scratch their bikes! (They did you a favour scratching your balls, haha. okay, jokes aside)

okay they called police then took photos or videos. posing seemed to be something you and your soccer buddies like.

Then the best part! The policemen that TS mentioned, fined the other group 300 bucks because they were foreigners? If any foreigners read this thread, they won't come to SIngapore then we would have bad economy and the blame will be pushed to you! Muahaha!(This is a big problem, go edit. I got a feeling you can get caught for these kinda stuff.)
I can actually imagine the amount of money the government makes from fines
if we get like around 200,000 foreigners in our country everyday!

Sorry for the long story, but this is what I thought and assumed happened. (This is NOT what happened)
In the end, the problem just lies with balls. And the title has the word people which refers to TS and his buddies right? The only reason I can find why they would be fined 300 bucks would be because they beat you and your friends up real bad.*means your a loser* If not, I really think the 300 dollar fine should have been imposed on you! no hard feelings dood.

okay hope whoever read this reall had time to spare!

GREAT BALLS OF FIRE!!!!! WOOO!!!!

does there always need to be a point in passing?

this is a not a GCE 'O' level English comprehension questionnaire.

im against the death penalty cos i feel is cruel.

you can always sentence the accused to life imprisonment.

at this juncture, i know some clowns will be like, 'no la, but keep him alive in prison will cost money what. so might as well execute him'.

but then again, can anyone ascertain the value of a life?

40,000 metal heads around?

where were u when i was in the VIP section of the Slipknot concert?

playing arcade Daytona in Bugis?

Dude, you've got a problem? So what if you were in the VIP of a Slipknot concert?

And who the hell cares if you're against the death penalty? You're in the wrong thread.

i'm sorry TS. but i'm with emphisrow on this.

and count yourself (and your friends) pretty damn lucky you got outta there alive or without paying any damages.

go try it again somewhere else and there might be a different outcome, instead of you (and your friends) walking away without a scratch.

why dun u guys join the football sessions that some of the forum members organise?

it's been getting a lot of hype so why not give it a try?

and besides, field soccer is fun.

more fulfilling.

why disturb the developement of our future national basketball players or perhaps the winners of the Adidas 3-on-3 challenge?

happiness!

goes to show that life is never fair. and who told you it is going to be fair in the first place?

when the system didn't work, people will take things into their own hands.

since they basket ballers were the ones who called the police, thinking that the system woould give them a fair trial.

hahaha...and they were sorely disappointed with lost of face, damaged bikes and money...

they must be VERY VERY SORE.

and remember, they have your faces in their mobile phones.

i wouold not play that friggin soccer ball at that court anymore if i were you. unless i wanted to be a beaten up or dead hero.

young dudes, put your anger to better use la. one day when you get older, you wold find this so silly.

i understand you, as i am still trying to control my temper at mid life.

hahhahaaa...

go play the guitar, drum whatever!

RORK ON!

Dude, I was the one who organized it and as far as I can remember, the hype has died down a few weeks ago.
