What's happening to the world?

heh, perhaps its good that i dont sell much gear, if not, i guess i will be really grumpy as well

I'm more concerned about geetarers who dunno how to google, come on SOFT asking to be spoon fed, repeating the same thing again and again and again... and the whole stagnant state of guitar-ing here.

But wait.

This new thing involves money right? No wonder the angst!

that spoonfeed thing, is can start a new thread. I will drop by for funlaughternopeacelotsajoyloveandharmony

heh, talking bout that, we is shud one day meet for kopi, with goose. I think we can get lotsa love outta it.

I knew you'll come and respond Pathin. You do have a special places in my <3.

We meets for kopi soon yes. 2 Daniels and a Goose is not a joke.

but on a lighter note , by far every softie that i have dealt with regarding the buy/sell trade have been rather pleasant. They show up on time and deal at the agreed price , when i buy things that item purchase is exactly what i had in mind and functions without a giltch. I've even made some good friends along the way.

Hi Aaron,

I am quite surprised to see this thread from you, especially when the pedal has nothing of the claims that you have listed before selling it to you. Another thing, you contacted me about a month to 2 about the problem after buying??!! Hope you can clarify yourself.

If I have a faulty pedal, I will either repair it before selling or pay for the repair after selling. I have posted several stuffs here for sales and so far, I believe my standing is clean and good. Hoever, a sales is still a sales, and if you had informed me of this problem soon after the sales, I will work on it, but not after a period of time. Thanks.

Well so, the story goes like this. I saw a fellow softie, I shall not name, happen to have a sale on boutique pedals and I was quite interested in the Barber Tone Press that he had for sale. The sale went well, didn't really get it for a really good price, but hey! always trust softies. In excellent physical condition, I plugged the Tone Press in to try. That's weird... it's not compressing anything or sustaining anything, it's just giving me a distorted sound. I ask the softie, hey did you do anything to it? "no" he says. So I brought it to a tech, TYMC. They troubleshooted directly through barber, but to no avail. I asked whether i could send it to Barber directly, they told me that he won't accept it, he only offers a one to one exchange if the pedal is under warranty. I go back and ask the softie, hey there is really something funky with the pedal, can you take it back because I can't do anything to it, it's just a very weak and expensive overdrive. He says "no. I don't need one. Can you sell it by yourself? thanks"

This really taught me a lesson in ever buying second handed goods.. never judge a book by it's cover. Thanks to TYMC to doing whatever they can anyway. Really nice place. To the mother loving son of a father who sold me this expensive paper weight, I hope you don't con anyone else. I'm freakin pissed now because I can't do anything with the pedal and there's nobody who can repair it. Thank you for making the world a better place.

alright...the other side of the story is out...so who is in the wrong now...buyer or seller? if both are sayin the truth...i think its wrong to say the product is spoilt after a month or 2..but if it was like within 3 days..then seller gotta take some blame...who is saying the truth now?

Man this is really getting touchy and all.......i hope u guys can settle the score soon and a pleasant result follows!

I WOULD NEVER sell anyone a spoilt pedal.....there were a couple of softies who offered me for my H2O version 1, was planning to repair it and sell. Got the footswitches changed and all. But guess what? I decided not to, knowing that this problem has cropped up again and again. I told the buyers honestly about this and they said that well if within 7 days ok they'll fix the problem themselves. but i still refused to sell cos i have been thru the fustration of owning a pedal that keeps breaking down repeatedly, and i do not want ANYONE to go thru the same predicament as I did.

I contacted G77 and they said they'd take the pedal from me at a consolation price. I was losing money but i agreed, cos my pedal was serviced by them many times and i know that they can fix the problem at their side if anything goes wrong. At least it wont end up with some buyer who will end up repeatedly servicing his pedal over and over...back to square 1.

I feel that honesty begets honesty and most of the softies i have dealt with so far are good....Havent been stood up in a bad deal yet. Aaron, maybe you should contact Goose....maybe he can take a look at your pedal and see what can be done. He did a pretty good job with my broken down pedal the last time.

if the pedal starting becoming faulty a few months after the deal, you can't really expect the seller to take the blame, seeing as it probably went faulty in your care and not his.

though it's still our responsibility to physically check on the items we're buying, some stuff, like efx pedals for example, still require us to plug that pedal and our guitar into an amp before we know whether its fully 100% functional. most times, its never convenient, so we trust our fellows bros here in soft. though there's a 1/10 chance of our trust being, what, betrayed? (i can't think of a proper word, hehs.)

glad to see i got some backing for my 'bad traders list' suggestion. though not an original idea, as i got that idea from another forum in which i use, i think it will do good for us all, and any new junior members starting out on soft, in case any dude wants to rip off the new guys. hope to see this idea implemented! :D

goose ..nice pic ..is that a hint???hmm anyway where is the threadstarter ..

What's happening to the world?

haha ...

whats happening to the world is that people are getting smarter and smarter because they learn and experience new things. Same goes in this forum. There are smart buyers and sellers in here. Nobody force you to buy or to sell. Its a fair game of buyers and sellers. They play, u play back. What I can say is that, to all buyers and sellers.. just deal smartly and be responsible for your own actions. God Bless You All.

Nice man i like your style :)

it is the sellers responsibility to offer some kind of a warranty. 3-7 days is the norm that i usually give but as an honest seller, i also highlight my experiences using the product and any problems i may have encountered using it to the buyer, if he is really serious before buying.

It is also the buyer's responsibility to get back to me about any problems faced after buying within a week timeframe. Unless he is really noob and dosent know how the product works, there are kids these days who buy stuff without knowing its true intended purpose of it, and one month later after playing with it they ask me, "eh what are your settings you use on the pedal" and im like "wah, after one month you still donno how to use it meh?"

Hi Aaron,

The thread starter did ask me whether the blend knob of the pedal in question was supposed to make the sound less defined and more distorted (I still got the sms in my phone dated 5th August which is believe was the day he bought the pedal http://soft.com.sg/forum/guitar-efx-buy-sell/74661-boutique-pedals-sales-updated.html)

I told him there might be something wrong with it but I wasn't sure, and he wasn't sure too since he was new to compressors. I checked it out that weekend at his house and felt that the pedal wasn't functioning like a conventional compressor at all but instead, it had an overdrive/fuzz property. I believed he contacted you around that time seeking clarification on the pedal and sought out help from here (http://soft.com.sg/forum/gear-guitar/76057-help-needed-barber-tone-press.html) and TYMC on the pedal in question. He did not demand a refund on the spot but asked you whether you had tempered with it or attempted to mod it before in the hopes of asking CK of TYMC to undo any mods. You said you did not.

CK couldn't diagnose the problem and sought help directly from Barber but the problem was still not solved 2 weeks later. Thus, he asked you whether a refund/exchange was possible as a last resort. This is from what I know. I'll leave the rest of the clarification to him because he has a clearer picture of what exatly happened.

I sense a huge misunderstanding! Im just waiting for the outcome and the awws and oohs. At least this matter is being settled amicably with an open mutual discussion - always helps to see the other side. On my side, i feel that the seller should bear no responsibility, but the onus is on him to at least offer some assistance. Hopefully the matter will resolve itself in a way that both people end up happy, or slightly happy - look on the bright side TS, you'll have a shitload of spare parts - prob enough to make a diy comp!
