Fedora Hat
Skinny Jeans
Cardigan
Loafers
Scarf(optional)

Now you can look like everyone else who performs, Congratulations.

Seriously, if you need help on dressing, you really should take a step back and look at your priorities in life.

Are you that aimless in life that you don't even know what to wear?

Like what Cubek said, do a moonwalk and check out where your priorities lies.

Singaporeans. Always wanna impress someone else. Pfft.

I dont quite get it but why the flame? anw @Sic what's with the singaporean part? besides what's wrong with looking good?

TS, concentrate on the playing, less on the clothes you are going to wear. Last time at some gig some uncle band wore T Shirt and Jeans but they melted everyone's face off with their insane playing.

David Gilmour of PInk Floyd as well.

I know what I don't wear onstage, underwear..it's a habit I've had since I started playing - music - seriously.

bring back DLR's fashion sense

lol dlr!! haha

anw still there isnt a need to flame
i mean there's nothing wrong with making sure you dont look like an idiot up at stage and with that said for me my advice is just get something comfortable and presentable.. :)

I wore T-shirt and jeans for my performances... I don't quite care about clothing as long as it fits with what the rest of the band is wearing.

simplicity sake, tees with jean be more than enough for the average "friend friend, some some unknown fellas audience" kinda gig.

For paid gig, talk to bandmates, whether wanna have a uniform image or you do your own i wear mine kinda.

Anyway, why some of us flame here, not because we are nasty, but more of "isnt it obvious"

In term of dress sense in a band, its either we dressed to reflect our own music preference(rock tees, jeans, sneaker etc) or as a whole sale band image with uniform colour attire through out the band or simiply, dressed what we like and play a freaking solid set to impress the crowd.

Of course, if the band other than doing music, has a image side of things, then go over the top lah.

But surely 'isn't it obvious' can be expressed in a polite manner. I don't see the point of being nasty because it's one sure way to lead a thread off topic. Anyway, if someone decides to be nasty, he/she had better be prepared to be met with hostility in return, too.

Anyway, back to topic!

I go with the t-shirt and jeans and a pair of chucks. Don't see the need to have a shirt and vest and hat and tie and scarf and cardigan. It's hot enough here and when you start jumping around you're going to regret wearing 3 layers because that's what you see indie bands wear on MTV.

One of my favourite performers ever is B-Quartet's Bani Haykal and he regularly looks like he just got off the set of Planet of the Apes. No offence intended, I dig it!

Priority checklist on deciding attire:

1 - Something that won't restrict you from playing your instrument
2 - Something that doesn't restrict movement (eg. if you can't lift your feet to step on a guitar pedal)
3 - Something that won't cook you within your own skin under the stage lights
4 - Something you want people to recall you by (eg. wearing cone bras = singapore's madonna, or nutcase)
5 - Something; Nudity isn't recommended (neither are cone bras, for that matter)

look at those famous bands.
they sometimes use t-shirts of other band that they listen to.

but if it's like a formal performance, no crazy crowd, no headbangs etc. i say use something, formal like long sleve
