What do you guys think of guitar connections?

oh well I suppose it's always better to sell your gear directly to the buyers instead of going through a middleman. You'll get higher than what you would otherwise get selling to a second-hand shop and your buyer might even get the stuff for less than what he would have paid for at the shop. Rules of business I suppose, for a shop to survive they'll have to buy low and sell high.....

So if you intend to sell your gear to a second hand shop, be prepared to see it being sold for much higher prices and getting only a minimal sum in return.

I find that they did a good job in setting up my guitar, although I found the price abit steep at 1st, but hell, as long my guitar played better. I guess their the kind of guys if you be nice to them, they'll be nice to you

wow, becareful with comments like tht, u might get into trouble

There's no smoke without fire. How come you don't hear people talking trash about G77 or Luther? Do posters here have ask others "what you think about G77?"

i feel their service is good. i've sent 2 guitars there so far. the price might not be cheap for a set-up, etc. but they have a set-list with price quoted, so u know clearly what u r paying for. no hidden costs that suddenly "pop-up".

Haha. You have to understand that some of the guys here have a "smoke on the water, fire in the sky" logic!

AND THE VERY NEXT DAY, PEOPLE WERE TELLING ME THEY WANTED TO BUY MY PEDAL, WANT TO BUY MY GUITAR, AT TWICE THE AMOUNT I LET GO OF THEM FOR!!

Dear MichealAngelo,

In comparison with cash converters, I think our rates are easily better than theirs. It's necessary for 2nd hand shops to start with 50% of the orginial value. Most of the time it's less than half the value. Cameras, instruments etc. are no different unless the item is a high value collector's item.

There are daily liabilities to be paid, therefore to justify a certain investment, there must be a certain amount of returns. A simplistic analogy would be a food stall. A bowl of noodles sells for 3 - 3.50 and the cost is at most a dollar. If the stall owner sells it for 1.50, he'll be out of business. Unable to be pay for the rent, staff and other overheads. Even if he/she charges more than the average, it is also because he's providing a service. Think of the opportunity costs if you were to cook yourself. Our repairs are also priced in as such.

Ever wondered why there can be regular 50% sales at big chain stores? Simply because their profit margin is higher than 100%. Guitars are not FMCG. It takes time to sell every piece and there must be a certain markup to justifity.

However, I apologise if you felt you were not treated right. If you ever need anything or any repairs you can call and ask for KC, which is me.

cheers,
KC,
Guitar Connection

Well I dont think they mind me picking up guitars from the racks and plugging them into the amp in that small room, do you?

The 1st time I held a gibson explorer was at GC. I also played with a cool jackson but forget the model number.

They also gave me a marty friedman poster a couple of days before the clinic, which is now signed by marty on my wall.

Yeah they are a good shop, never bought anything so I havent really had to deal with the staff, but they arent bad. interesting shops though and they have some awesome posters...

Okay, I apologies for my preconceptions. hehe, just feeling a lil uncertain now that ppl bringing up funny stories. Yeah, its a just a business. No hard feelings yeah

i got my yamaha from there, its been falling apart since i got it from GC, but cant say i blame them, i got it for a steal at $350, and the guitar is more than 11 years old, i've managed to stunt the 'falling-apartness' and now it plays real nice

Hmm

GC is a good shop. Done up my guit wiring there, as well as try out some Fender Strats. They are super friendly peepz & the charges are very reasonable.

In this information age where resources are readily available on the internet, I believe buyers should take the effort to do their own research before entering into deals with any type of retailers, especially for used items.

Personally my experience with GC has been good so far, I have bought and resell guitar from them either at a small loss or a small profit. The approach is to educate yourself on the items you're eyeing before entering into a deal.

u might be rite bout ur comments but where's the solid proof? they can sue u for tht leh. my comments to wat u said was of gd will, i've seen lots of pple being sued jus cause they cldn't hold back their mouth & later cant bring up any proof for wat they said. i hope u understand wat i mean, no offence really

Thank you guys so much for your comments.

I hope the participants here would protect themselves by using General Charges instead of Specific Charges to indemify themselves from potential slendering incidents.

I guess running a business it is always about making money, and if they don't make money from customers then it is probably senseless to be in the game anyway.

But that said, my concern is pretty much due to the rareness of the guitar that was looking at and also the lack of information that i could source from the internet that made my decision making hugely dependent on the storekeeper's advice.

I have a friend who did have a poor experience and I would just like to check what is the general sentiments in the industry like.

Dear MichealAngelo,
Thanks for the clarification Kelvin, no worries, im not gonna boycott GC or anything, in fact, was thinking of some of the les pauls there...haha...and i'll most likely send my guitar to you guys for "servicing". I was simply irritated that I didnt get the best deal for my old stuff...as mentioned earlier, its my fault for not sourcing for potential buyers first! :x

Dear MA,

Thank you for your understanding. Kelvin doesn't post here. My name is Kai-Chin or KC for short. I also do repairs and hopefully "servicing'" actually means real repairs =)

cheers,
KC,
