What did you get at this year sweelee END OF YEAR SALES?

haha thanks man, all the other S series are gone even the S320 :D i went in all the higher ends and the s470 are gone. left the S320,S670FM and other SA series heh and i'm number 47 in the queue >< FTW

What time since you queued then you got number 47? haha

i bought a hand hammered hh 20" jazz ride
and a few other stuff...

but that's my favorite item..i'm gonna keep it forever haha.

it's got some weird signature at the back btw..i don't know whose it is. but it doesn't look printed on. it's some permanant marker signature..

For Sabian cymbals with signature, the signature is from the craftsman checking the quality before shipping out, it means "Sabian" in some language. Well, that's what I heard about them. I can't seem to find this info anymore, though.

Edit: Hmm it seems that there are two types of signatures that can appear.
1) For Hand Hammered cymbals only, that one appears.
2) For the signature series cymbal, they print the artist's signature underneath. e.g. my Fierce Ride has a "Jojo mayer" underneath it, Legacy series has Dave Weckl's signature, etc.

Anyway, I bought a ride on impulse after queuing up for so long. Well, it's my last sweelee sale I bother to go to I guess, since my membership will run out this month.

i bought the signature series max splash but that signature is printed on. the signature on my ride doesn't look printed..

The sale was kinda BS, they cranked up the regular prices,so in the end, there wasn't much difference.

totally agree.

i bought meself a gig bag.
and a stap.
that's all, cause i was broke =[=[
haha.
i'll wait for their mid yr sale to get a guitar.

wooa cool how much was it bro? did you managed to get the 10% off extra?

Yeah I did!I was no.58...the Firebird cost me $475 after discount,before discount was $1016...so theres a huge difference I'd say:mrgreen:

Oh yeah some items had this treatment, eg the GT-10 went for $931 after "40% discount".

That makes the list price $1551.

Taking Musician's Friend as a guide, http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Boss-GT10-Guitar-MultiEffects-Pedal?sku=151133
We see that it's list price is US$700. The last time USD was worth twice the SGD was... 20 odd years ago?

well, taking the Pod X3 Live as another gauge (prices of both products are exactly the same), http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Line-6-POD-X3-Live-Guitar-Multi-Effect-Pedal?sku=150377
City music's list price for this is around $900, and at their sale, it's going for $635. They can say it's a 33% discount upright and people would still go for it cause it's a good buy.

If you went for the SL sale and had the "60% discount", you'd ge the GT-10 for $660 (in actual fact, that's only a 33% off, which is qutie a lot, but much less than 60%), but at "50% discount", you'd get it at $800, which is only 16.6% off.

I'm not saying this sale: pricing strategy is bad. A little use of it would make a sale seem enticing, but too much of this gimmick to the point that it's ridiculously obvious, it becomes a turn off. I would prefer if they priced their stuff normally, and said boss pedals have 30% discount. I would feel less deceived that way..

lol, the funniest i saw was still the gibsons.

it wrote there: " user price $2621.50"
then below it were some cancellation.
so me and my friend flipped over the price tag and try to see what's beneath the cancellation.

turns out it was this " Special Price $1330"

so haha.
after 50% discount of the 2621.50 it would be around 1310 so that doesn't make much diff doesn't it?
you queue up for around 2hours plus to save 20dollars.

oh yeah, and they have a special discount for rusty strings.
did anyone buy?

Discount for rusty strings? Haha... rusty strings will spoil the frets :( I agreed with madwerewolfboy. That's why I stop going to their sale. I rather purchase a guitar during a normal day and test the guitar before buying. Furthermore, I can get a brand new piece :)

now i feel dumb getting so hyped up about their sales.

i got a boss dd-3, which eats up a whole 9V battery in 2 hours.
is this normal?

lol

ok la, its not really they marked up before the sales, at point of times even if the normal days i feel its over priced, so some of the prices are brought forward to this event unchanged, and luckily the S670 was unchanged and managed to get it at a cheaper price. but i must say, some are really over priced, like the effects some are NETT PRICE. and net prices have only 10% discount. :???:
so maybe the boss gt10 is nett price. aiya all after all, sweelee even though got sales oso still EARN la. smart buggers.

honestly, i have no idea how they earn enough profit to cover their cost lah.
i mean it's such a big company and not THAT many people patronise them everyday right?
hahas.

i think the nett prices stuff are the ones that we should be buying as on normal days there's no discount given on stuff with nett prices.
so u sort of get a 10% discount lah.
haha.

and rusty strings really spoil frets ah?
lucky i nvr buy, lol.
was tempted to take a pic of that cardboard box holding the rusty strings when i realised you couldn't take pics inside.
lol.

Swee Lee will still earn as they carry brands that most people are looking for ie. Ibanez, Fender, Gibson, Epiphone, Squier, Cort and the list goes on.

Strings when rusty become rough and this friction will wear out the frets.
