Understanding pickup output vs DC resistance

I would love to...except that my wallet dosent quite agree..ah well. :(

Will probably get one or stick to Stan Heinsley pickups...they do work quite well for me actually. Tried the Zen on Goose's goldtop and its quite a killer bridge pup in his LP, and its Alnico 2 :)

That being said, I wouldnt mind giving Skatterbranes a try...just that well...they are abit pricey(since I'm just a fresh grad outta poly)....I guess I gotta save up then!

Yes, this can be a problem for some people. But, I know many people who waste money when they do not get exactly what they want the FIRST time (no matter what that might be)

You're right Rod... Maybe WB has some help here, and got someone to remove your posts the way he's being censored in MLP? Hahahahha... Just kidding...

ha ha!! Yes, funny but who knows? I like it here, you are very friendly. Maybe I will come here from time to time and check on this place!

I agree with you on this. For me it was the Stan Hinesley aka HAS sound pickups that really rocked my world when I first tried them....After going through dimarzio, duncan, bareknuckle, Suhr DSVs and so on.... Have not looked back since.

That being said, I have yet to give the Skatterbranes a try. Anyone here has branes in their guitar and willing to let me try?

I charge $25 for International shipping. In honor of this forum, I will NOT charge this to SOFT forum members IF they tell me they are from this forum when they order! This is a SOFT forum special only.

There are winders, and there are winders. When you talk about pickup winders, there are some who will give a whole catalogue of stuff. Like Bareknuckles, WCRs, WBs, High Order, Stan Hinsleys, DiMarzios, Duncans etc etc.

Of course, you also get your cheap stuff like GFS, Tone Riders, Sky Pickups etc etc.

Then you get your rare breed like Throbak, Skatterbranes, Tom Holmes, Lollars etc etc who mainly focus on PAF styled pickups. Note: PAF. If you're not after the PAF sound then forget it. Stick with your HAS pups or something else. If you're after the PAF tone, then nothing except these dedicated winders would do. (I should actually include the Mule from Bareknuckle there). There's a reason why Rod's pups are costly.

I actually have a feeling the PAF styled pup isn't what you're after.

Ized, I don't think PAF is what you're after too.

I already have all my pus in my number 1 strat all down....so I'm willing to experiment with my edwards a bit since its more of a backup for my number 1 axe.

Thanks guys....I'm not really bothered about whether its a PAF or not....cos I'm experimenting to see what sounds good in an LP. I already like the Duncan 59 on the neck..which is somewhat reminiscent of the PAF tone so I'd appreciate it if you guys arent so quick to judge.

No problem. Since you like the 59, then there might be hope after all. Let us know how your tonequest turns out!

ehe eh interesting......

next time ... perhaps ill buy 1 sets ... i wanna try it on my DIY single cut hehe

i think its quite friendly with a non mahogany body guitar... :p

hey i think u should create a separate thread for this interesting goods

Ha! Ha! I understand that it may seem this way. I have tried MANY boutique PAF style pickups! They were ALL different from each other (just like real PAFs are) Some I liked, and some I did not. It is not only imagination, it is real.

The samples on your site sound fabulous. I'm not a PAF pro (heh, Dimarzios anyone?) but the stuff on your website sound really really good.

I got an interesting query for you, will email.

Oh Nooooo......

Let me guess ....8 string PAF :???:

Yeah. Something like that.

Would be interesting. But built for fanned frets. Not interested in heavy metal stuff for my 8 string.

Actually, not asking him to build it but just want to discuss ideas.. if Mr Skatterbrane is keen to.
