Understanding pickup output vs DC resistance

*rubs hands gleefully* ... fwo :p ... tech talk i like ...

i remember i used to mod custom passive pickup circuitry into actives + blue power LEDs lol ... donkey years ago ... this thread reminds me of ol ol days :-D

I really like that Youtube on this site of Inch Chua! I think she was in a band too? I do not download music, but I would like to buy her physical CD if it ever becomes availible. I am a sucker for music by beautiful women!

shes the vocalist for the band, allura. More rocking stuff compared to the solo ep.

The album is released by aging youth records, you can get in touch with the folks at aging youth for the album

The answer to your question, I answered: my Metalbranes are what you are looking for.

Cool....They seem to have pretty low resistance for a high output pu.

Are they gonna be fat sounding and tight in bass? I would prefer something thats fat sounding like the Super Distortion.

cool thread read most of the first post (reminds me of my WORST SUBJECT i take last sem *shudders*) I really didnt really get how resistance and capacitance plays a part (still nto very sure now) but i'll go and read up more when i have the time =D thanks guys

Cant find Hotbranes on your site.... I guess you must be referring to the Metalbranes?

he's got the vintage hot sets. But one thing to note D. Rod's winds are very vintage inspired. Meaning nickel covers. If i remember correctly, he does not do other coloured bobbins, so this might not be an ample replacement for your Hellion.

But if you've got a Les Paul, then he's your saviour!

Yup..need to get something to replace the thin and nasally Duncan JB on my Edwards LP

My sets are a better buy than just buying one anyway! And my pickups are NOT cheap! I do not compete with "bargain" mass produced brands. I have MANY customers who do put them in Les Paul copies however. And they love them.

Do your edwards a favour... Replace BOTH the pickups with the branes...

I would love to...except that my wallet dosent quite agree..ah well. :(

Will probably get one or stick to Stan Heinsley pickups...they do work quite well for me actually. Tried the Zen on Goose's goldtop and its quite a killer bridge pup in his LP, and its Alnico 2 :)

That being said, I wouldnt mind giving Skatterbranes a try...just that well...they are abit pricey(since I'm just a fresh grad outta poly)....I guess I gotta save up then!

Thank you Whitestrat! Yes, those who buy one, come back for the other anyway! Many people buy many more after their first set. (there are always a few people who do not like them......this is always true of anything, some people do not like chocolate or Asian women...they cannot be helped).
