Too many gigs?

does a glass mean a pint? if it does, i'd say about 4-6 glasses. of heineken that is.

Depends where you're coming from.

1 regular mug out there is usually 330ml.
1 pint is around 470ml BUT 1 UK pint is 570ml.

sighs....

I love guyrence, he brings so much laughter to soft. AND confusion too. Guyrence, ur organising easily 2o0% <<<purposely typed that way>>>>> of the gigs/concerts section. This post kind of contradicts what ur doing. But nevermind, im sure u have ur reasons.

About thinking so much about organising gigs when ur SIX-FREAKING-TEEN, i d say u should get ur priorities right. Dont say its about the money, there are TONNES of other jobs. If its about the passion, get the education first then. Seriously, passion can be pursued later. Like from o levels get a Diploma in sound engineering or something, and work it from there. Stressing ur ASS off ur waist isnt going to help u with ur O levels, and without it u would be in quite deep the shit.

Guyrence, i may only be like what 2 years older than u but i seriously think u should get ur education right first. Then pursue this seemingly lImITLESS paSSioN for music that u have.

And remember, live ur lIFe to THe <<<<11o0%>>>> #^*LIFEfoRCe?<<<<

Whatever it is, he got off his ass and organised shows.. Lots of shows. :/

A vital asset to our local music scene!

lets put it at an average of 500ml to a pint la.

takes about 3 before u start to feel goo and about 5 before u dont really give a damn about the other party being annoying.

To be honest, as a representative of Freemansland. I strongly believe that no private organiser have enough power to brand a band cause honestly, you do not have the money,Pr and media supporting you.Unless you do have the right people and money, and personally i do know of these people.

Freemansland do organise showcase for many many young talents and out of 30 bands that showcase during our shows.Sad to say 2 were only groomed by us. Deafening Silence and Cigarette sex. I guess we got to snap back to reality and really ask ourselves, do all bands really deserve to get groomed? This statement above is really subjective and everyone have their own opinions. With regards to post about bands not getting paid,we have just implemented a policy that any bands that play for showcase organized by us will be given allowances to bands base on their performance! So it ranges from $20-$100.Not ticketing.

To be honest, i was so puzzled with all the replies by band members, you guys want to play for gigs that dont require ticket selling, fair enough i do get your point. Who is going to pay for our overheads? I m mentioning about clubs not jamming studios which cost like few hundred dollars for 4 hours. We start our event at 1pm-1030pm.Its more than 9hours.
Manpower, rental, logistics,PR,marketing and most importantly media coverage.
For media coverage i guess its a pretty sensitive issue to touch on, however, i believe for bands to grow bigger you have to get help from the media, cause if you dont, you will always remain in a niche market.

We do organise band concert as well, invites for bigger bands like axe-calibur,shortgun starts, death warrant which are relatively recognised in the industry compare to new bands.

Now another question to all the bands out there, if you keep criticizing and pin-pointing organisers that really want to help to promote the local scene. I guess there will be a point where all organisers will be so afraid to organize more gigs for your benefit.

I guess its all about your own perception and how you look at this, but as a representative of Freemansland i do believe in singapore, Money talks bullshit walks! I would like to know that if a free-lance organiser actually have ever brand and take the local scene onto a different level. Personally, i will slaute him if i see him on the streets.

Freemansland
Kaisheng

Anyway, i would like to participate in this thread however i do not have an account. So please forgive me for using freemansland account. Personally, i think you should go and study first. I mean i do have experience like at 16. I was attached to an entreprenuer at JDL ptd ltd , i was suppose to be funded by him but all businessman are cheaters. Skeptical mentality at that time. And in events business, Effective PR is important so i feel you have to improve on your english. Anyway, any DEEE in Singapore polytehnic? Meet up for lunch. A word of advice, Great wall of china was not built with a man, its a team of man. Synergy is the word. Cheers!

WHAT IF---a band have 2 shows in a day

1@homeclub another1@DXO...

each organiser demand a band sells all 30 tickets..

to organiser..have you come across this matter before?
what will you do?

the correct way to say it is , you'VE been punkED , notice your not making any sense again? can you stop embarrassing yourself , i don't want to kill you with my insults

hi..but my cpu is lack..

so by right..my post should be first...

hey it sounds like my band(inserts sarcastic laugh right about here) , the condition was i didnt have to sell tickets for the one at beat merchants , Tel megiddo @ Homeclub was worth it because it had great bands featured and a solid program and location lined up . And hence the decision was made to play 2 gigs at one day . The organizer would'nt advise it if we had to sell 30 tickets , that's what an organizer would do . so get the facts before you post .

With regards to my earlier post, its shotgunstart.

I guess i will play for a bigger company, at least 1 with vision , place as well and friendly organiser i guess.

>>> here<<<and there>>>>>but where???

haha! cute >.<

anyway, why would you agree to choose to play both gigs which need to sell 30 tickets? :/

Thats landing yourself in deep deep sheet. :X

Just saying..

personally, i dont mind selling yickets to play for a show. its a form of self investment in your band. its the same as paying for a decent recording at a good studio. if u dont invest in yourself, how do u expect others to invest in you?

besides, tiecket sales are no problem. if u're willing to absorb some of the cost and sell your tickets cheaper, there'll be no shortage of ppl buying from you.

I admire and appreciate bands that understand that organisers do not owe them a living. Really really need to give you guys like thumps up! Cheers!
